Seth Rollins will challenge Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules. This will be a 30-minute Iron Man match. This comes after Ziggler won the Title from Rollins several weeks back.
What will happen in this match and how will it end? Let’s speculate a little bit here.
I want to start off by saying that this has the potential to be really good. Both Rollins and Ziggler are very talented in the ring. Rollins is on a tear right now and it seems like anybody that he steps in the ring with ends up being elevated. If you add that they will have 30 minutes to work, it seems like the formula for a really good match. In my Extreme Rules predictions, I actually chose this as a potential Match of the Year candidate. That should tell you how excited I am about this one.
As for the match winner, I think that we will be seeing Ziggler remain as the Intercontinental Champion for a couple of reasons. The first is that WWE just put the belt on Ziggler and I think he has a long run as Champion in his future with Drew McIntyre backing him up. The other reason is that I think Rollins will be moving into the Universal Title picture over the next several months. Even if he doesn’t, the upcoming returns of Jason Jordan and Dean Ambrose will likely keep Seth busy for the next few months.
I am going to take a stab at the finish. The match goes the full 30-minutes and Ziggler and Rollins are tied at one fall apiece. McIntyre causes a distraction, which leads to Ziggler pinning Rollins in overtime to retain the Title. This keeps Rollins looking strong and also keeps the belt on Ziggler. If Rollins is moving up the card, I don’t think he will be getting pinned clean here.
That is what I think will happen, what about you? Let me know on Twitter or in the comment section.
On a related note, here is how we think the match between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax will end.
