Dolph Ziggler Explains His Recent Absence From WWE Television

Back in December, Dolph Ziggler left the WWE United States Championship in the ring before walking out. He was off television for just over a month, returning as the 30th entrant in the Royal Rumble match.

Ziggler was recently a guest on Isaac Wenzel’s All Things Wrestling Radio podcast. During the interview, Ziggler briefly touched upon what happened.

Ziggler didn’t want to get into any details about his rumored new contract with WWE. He did say though that he requested to be taken off TV.

Here is what he said (h/t to Bodyslam.net)

“I will say that I really begged and pleaded for a couple of months off the television show, because no matter how good I am or what I’m up too, it seems that 99 times out of 100 I would lose. I didn’t think that I deserved to be on the TV show if I was somebody that loses every night. So I asked to be taken off. I was hoping for maybe six months or a year, and it ended up being four weeks.”

Speaking of Dolph, a former member of the Spirit Squad recently told the story about Vince McMahon pitching them the gimmick. You can read that here.
