News broke on Monday afternoon that WWE has changed the name of Apollo Crews. They have officially dropped his last name and he will be going by ‘Apollo’ from now on.
So why did WWE make this change? There is a rumor floating around about the potential reason.
A report from Sportskeeda says that the reason Apollo’s name was changed was to avoid any possible allusion to Nikolas Cruz. Cruz is the perpetrator of the recent mass shooting in Florida.
Apparently this is the reason why Apollo Crews is now “Apollo”.

Take with a grain of salt though. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet says that WWE PR is denying that they sent out an email about this.
