Samoa Joe was on the NXT Takeover Philly kickoff show panel alongside Charly Caruso and Sam Roberts. He was a natural in the role and I thought that he provided some excellent analysis into the matches.

2) Aleister Black Cleaned Up At The 2017 NXT Awards

Corey Graves and Renee Young were handing out the NXT end of the year awards on the Takeover Philly kickoff show.

Aleister Black won three awards. The first was the rivalry of the year award for his feud with Velveteen Dream. The second was for male superstar of the year. The third was for breakout star of the year. Impressive stuff for Black!

3) The Rest Of The NXT Award Winners

Here are the remaining 2017 NXT awards that were won:

– Asuka picked up the female competitor of the year award.

– Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne won the Match of the Year award for their clash at Takeover Chicago.

– The overall competitor of the year award went to Asuka!

4) Nigel McGuinness Missed Takeover Due To Illness 

It was announced during the kickoff show that commentator Nigel McGuinness would be missing the show. This was due to illness according to Mauro Ranallo.

5) Zelina Vega Is Great On The Mic

Zelina Vega was on the Takeover: Philadelphia kickoff show. She showed off her great mic skills during the segment, going back and forth with the hosts.
