Backstage News On Roman Reigns Losing The Intercontinental Championship To The Miz

Roman Reigns lost his Intercontinental Championship on the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW. Reigns was defeated by the Miz, who won the Intercontinental Title for the 8th time in his career.

We have an update on Roman after he lost the belt.

Some fans questioned if Reigns losing the title was punishment for the steroids allegations that circulated last week. This is not the case. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), says that the feeling within WWE is that it is a non-story. Him losing the title has nothing to do with him being punished for the incident.

Meltzer says that Reigns is still scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34 for the Universal Title. Those plans have not changed.

As for the Miz, Meltzer says that there are some big plans for him at Wrestlemania and he is on the receiving end of a big push right now. That would be a part of the reason why WWE pulled the trigger for the Miz to win the title back. The other reason would likely be so Reigns can focus on the Universal Title picture heading into ‘Mania.

No word yet on if Reigns will be winning the Royal Rumble or what the plans exactly are for the Miz. We will have to wait and see.
