There have been rumors for the past year that suggest Roman Reigns will be facing off against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34 for the WWE Universal Championship. Based on the booking of Brock over the past year, it looks like that is still the plan moving forward.
With that in mind, Roman is still the WWE Intercontinental Champion. I have heard some fans suggest that it could be a Title vs Title match, similar to what WWE did at Wrestlemania 6 with the Ultimate Warrior vs Hulk Hogan. I don’t think that WWE will go that route and I think that Reigns will drop the belt beforehand. So how will Reigns lose the title?
I am going to guess that it will involve the Miz. For those who forgot, Reigns and the Shield attacked the Miz after he lost the title. This was to write him off television to film the movie The Marine 6: Close Quarters. The movie has completed filming and the Miz is expected back at any time now.
WWE is going to protect Reigns heading into his match against Brock. The only question now is how they do it. I see it going 1 of 2 ways:
1) the Miz costs Reigns the title on RAW this Monday. Reigns is defending his title in a no-disqualification match on Monday against Samoa Joe. The Miz could interfere and cost Reigns his title. This would put the belt on Joe, without having Reigns lose clean.
2) The Miz ends up getting involved in the Joe and Reigns feud. This leads to a triple threat at the Royal Rumble: Reigns vs Joe vs the Miz. At the Rumble, either Joe pins the Miz or vise-versa. This allows WWE to take the belt off Reigns without him getting pinned.
