Charlotte Flair won the Smackdown Women’s Championship from Natalya a few weeks ago. She went on to defeat Alexa Bliss at Survivor Series in the Champion vs Champion match. After this, Charlotte defended her title against Natalya, but the match was interrupted by the debut of the ‘Riott Squad’.
It turns out that this was not the original plan for Charlotte and her next feud after Natalya.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), WWE was building towards a Charlotte and Tamina feud. With the recent call-ups of Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan, those plans look to have been changed or pushed back to a later date.
The feud between Tamina and Charlotte could play on the idea that they are both second generation wrestlers. Charlotte of course being the daughter of Ric Flair. Tamina being the daughter of the late, Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka.
It would make sense though for a feud (before the NXT call-ups) because there weren’t many heels on the Smackdown roster. Charlotte would be finishing up her feud with Natalya. WWE would likely want to avoid a Carmella-Charlotte feud until we see a cash-in. That leaves Tamina as the only heel left on the roster (before the call-ups). Now, it looks like Charlotte has begun a program with Riott, Logan & Morgan.
