Kevin Owens was recently a guest on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness hosted by Edge & Christian. He spoke on a wide variety of topics about his WWE career.
During the interview, Owens was very honest about the past year of his career. Specifically he expressed that his WWE Universal Title run and his recent matches against AJ Styles were a bit disappointing.
Here is what he said about his Universal Title run:
“To me I thought that was it. I am the Universal Champion and this is going to solidify me as the top guy that I have always wanted to be. But I don’t think it really did. It didn’t turn out to be what I was hoping- it didn’t turn out to be this thing that would make me a top guy, the way like I felt that it would”
Owens says that his storyline with Jericho helped him get to where he wanted to go but feels like he stalled a bit afterwards. He was also honest about his series of matches against AJ Styles:
“You said you enjoyed the series of matches with AJ and I’m glad you did and hopefully a lot of people did as well. But I don’t know if I can say that I did to be honest. I don’t know if I was putting my best stuff at the time”
He also says that now he feels like his storyline with Shane and Vince McMahon has helped him get to the next level.
