Jinder Mahal has held the WWE Championship now for over 100 days. His next title defense will be against Shinsuke Nakamura next month at the Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View. As we reported prior, Jinder is about to pass some big names on the list of longest (single) WWE Title reigns of all-time.
So how long will he hold the title for?
As you might have heard by now, WWE is going to be touring India in December. This has caused some speculation among fans that the ‘Modern Day Maharaja’ could hold onto the belt until those events happen.
It appears as if WWE’s expansion into India is working. Indian-born Kavita Devi competed in the Mae Young Classic where she was defeated by Dakota Kai in the first round. The video of this match has almost 5 million views already on WWE’s Youtube channel. The next closest for first round matches is under 100,000 views. A pretty crazy surge in numbers for one match and shows us that there is certainly interest among Indian fans.
This is just speculation but we have to think a WWE live event in India would have more impact if Jinder came in still as Champion. If he defeats Nakamura at Hell in a Cell, the next Pay-Per-View is Survivor Series. Jinder could be involved in a Survivor Series elimination match at the event and not have to defend his title. This would put him in line to hold the belt until Clash of Champions in December (after the India live events).
Here is our Survivor Series team predictions.
