Now that Summerslam is officially over, we need to start looking at what is next in WWE. The RAW brand will have the ‘No Mercy’ Pay-Per-View in September, headlined by Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Title. Smackdown’s next show will be ‘Hell in a Cell’ on October 8th.
So what will be the main event of the 2017 edition of Hell in a Cell? Here are some rumors.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer speculated that it looks to be the current plan for Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura to face off in a Hell in a Cell match. It isn’t confirmed but certainly seems like what they are building towards.
There are also some rumors that promotional material is already floating around that is advertising Jinder vs Nakamura inside of the unforgiving structure.
It would make sense if it happens. A Hell in a Cell match would keep the Singh Brothers from getting involved. The duo interfered at Summerslam, costing Nakamura the match.
WWE still has several weeks to build this feud up since the event doesn’t take place until October. (Note: If you are in the Detroit area, there are some good deals on tickets here).
Jinder is coming off of a similar match, defeating Randy Orton inside of the Punjabi Prison. The Hell in a Cell structure at least features a roof and won’t allow for the Singh Brothers to get involved. That is, unless they find a way to break down one of the cell walls…
