We open the show tonight with the US Title match. I am really digging AJ Styles new shirt and Kevin Owens keeps losing weight I swear. This should be an amazing match and I wonder if this will end clean. I would think both men need to move on to their next feuds. The first commercial break and we don’t get the split screens…ugh… however I bet we’ll get it for Mojo Rawley later or something. A.J. Styles has an amazing drop kick it’s truly a thing of beauty. I may be enjoying this match more than the prior two matches of theirs to be honest. AJ has such incredible control when he hops onto the top rope it’s amazing. The split screen needs to be something other sports look into as I think they could still sell the ads for the same cost as it should keep people from channel flipping. Owens is such a throw back heel just watch the way he sells and his in ring psychology. Owens breaks up the calf crusher by head butting AJ Styles….seems legit. Package powerbomb reversal into a pele kick yes it’s that great. Owens goes for a punch and nails the referee, Styles gets the pin however Owen’s shoulder was CLEARLY up. I can clearly say that it’ll be Owens and Shane. We get Shane and Bryan backstage telling the referee that he missed the call. Summerslam update AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens for the US title with Shane McMahon as the special referee.
Fashion Files is up now… SHUT UP TOM PHILLIPS get to Fashion Files. Whoa instead we have Uso’s mocking the New Day entrance and its GLORIOUS! Uso’s out here with Cena 2004 gimmick. We finally get our Fashion Files segment and Fandango is missing. Breeze looking mighty dapper and talking into a tape recorder. The lights go out and his coffee is extra thick. Tyler breeze wakes up from a day dream saying no more metaphors. BELLA TWIN PEAKS is on the board and he says he know’s who kidnapped Fandango.
Sami Zayn is out to the ring and Aiden English comes down to the ring singing and even chooses a woman to point to during a note. English is so happy right now he’s getting booed and you suck chants. In our live chat I took a small poll and it was two to one that Elias does it better each week. I’m watching this match and wondering who needs to lose a hair vs. hair match more… Baron Corbin or Aiden English. JBL puts over Sami Zayn almost becoming a WWE champion a few times and before I could finish typing that Aiden English rolls him up for the win. This leads Mike Bennett to come out and Maria gets her best Stephanie McMahon face to criticize Sami Zayn.
Naomi and Becky are taking on Carmella and Natalya. Someone asked in the chat where is Charlotte? I also have the same question she’s hands down the biggest star in the women’s division and needs to be featured. Her moving to Smackdown Live has been awful to this point however maybe there is a long term plan. Naomi is so damn athletic it’s crazy. Natalya does a very very good sharpshooter super underrated. Carmella makes a tag out of the ring and how cool would it be if Carmella cashed in mid match? Naomi counters Carmella’s submission into her own.
Jinder Mahal cuts a promo and all I can look at is his stupid tie. Xenophobic blah blah come on Jinder you’re better than that. Rusev is walking backstage and we are going to get Rusev vs. Gable tonight my goodness. This should be the featured mid card non title feud right now this is something i’ve been wanting to see. Very good match so far with Gable trying to beat Rusev using technical wrestling and Rusev just throwing Gable around. This dynamic and these two guys visually is such an entertaining watch. Gable hits a pretty moonsault for a near fall but man was it awesome to see. Rusev goes for the Accolade and Gable reverses for an ankle lock. So Jordan gets the genetics and Gable gets the ankle lock in the divorce? Rusev hits the big side kick and locks in the accolade for the win. Good for Rusev and good showing for Gable that’s the way to make both men look good in a match. Rusev vs. Orton get’s set up for Summerslam and that’s awesome for Rusev.
Man John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura is actually happening on August 1st, 2017 on a Smackdown Live. The same night we had AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens and Rusev vs. Chad Gable. This Smackdown Live has been absolutely LOADED! I also like the added touch of Mahal having his own press box seats. Cena and Nakamura exchange some great facial expressions and show charisma without saying a word. How they didn’t do the split screen for this match I don’t know. These two have good chemistry which shouldn’t surprise me as Cena works super well with every top star. Nakamura tries to lock Cena in an armbar from a five knuckle shuffle reversal. Cena and Nakamura exchange some good mat wrestling reversals until Cena does his best JBL impression with a clothesline. Nakamura kicks out of the AA after Cena reverses the Kensasha. Nakamura dropped Cena on his head and hits his finisher and is the number one contender for the WWE title. Cena gets up after the match and looks groggy and he shakes Nakamura’s hand raises it telling the crowd he will be the new champion.
