Possible Reason Why Big Cass vs Big Show Main Evented RAW Over The Triple Threat

It was a bit surprising this week when the triple threat match didn’t main event RAW. Roman Reigns was able to defeat Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe at the beginning of the third hour. All 3 of these men will face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title at Summerslam.

Instead, the main event of RAW was the match between the Big Show and Big Cass.

On Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here) after RAW, Dave Meltzer says that he was also puzzled by the decision and felt like the rest of the show would fall flat if they put the triple threat on early (which it did).

He also gave a possible explanation as to why the Big Show and Big Cass were in the main event spot. He says that the Enzo and Big Cass segments have been doing really well in the quarter-hour ratings for RAW over the past several weeks.

As a result, he thinks WWE felt confident in putting them in the main event spot based on their numbers. We will have to wait and see when the numbers come in for RAW this week if this payed off for the company and if fans stuck around for the full show.
