You have probably heard stories about Vince McMahon and his sometimes bizarre banning of words or phrases on his programming. An example would be banning the phrase: “title shot”. Instead, he prefers it to be called a ‘title opportunity’.
There was also a list several years ago that leaked some of the banned words from Vince. This included “belt”, “hospital”, “performer” and many more.
It appears as if we could have another one added to the list if these rumors turn out to be true.
According to some rumors circulating, Vince has banned the word “briefcase” from his programming. This comes only a few weeks after the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View. At the event we saw Carmella and Baron Corbin both win Money in the Bank briefcases.
It is rumored that instead of “briefcase”, WWE officials have asked talent to refer to it as simply a “contract” instead.
Mick Foley recently told the story of Braun Strowman getting chewed out backstage by Vince for saying “title shot” on Monday Night RAW. This should give you an idea of how seriously he takes this kind of stuff.
Take rumors with a grain of salt as always. We will have to wait and see what the Smackdown Live commentators have to say over the next few weeks.
