It was reported this week that ‘Impact Wrestling’ had acquired Jeff Jarrett’s ‘Global Force Wrestling’ promotion. It turns out that this was a lot bigger of a move than originally thought.
The Tennessean reports that ‘Impact Wrestling’ will be undergoing a re-brand and will be changing its name moving forward.
The company [Impact Wrestling] will now be called ‘Global Force Wrestling’ moving forward. This will be to distance the company from the legal issues and financial struggles of the past.
Jeff Jarrett will be taking over the creative aspects of the company. He commented on the re-brand, saying:
“We’re a global brand. We have partnerships in Mexico, Japan, other places. Collectively coming together, we’ve combined forces and basically the rebrand final touches happen (on Sunday) at ‘Slammiversary.'”
The Slammiversary event on Sunday will mark the official re-brand of the company. Also, the Thursday night show on Pop TV will continue to be called “Impact” moving forward.
