Much has been made about the recent controversy surrounding JBL. Last week, many fans called for the firing of JBL from WWE after some alleged bullying stories came to light. #FireJBL trended for a few days on social media as fans expressed their displeasure.
Amidst the accusations and stories circulating the web, JBL was still featured on commentary this week on Smackdown Live.
Many fans noticed that JBL was not his typical self on commentary this past week. He didn’t insult Byron Saxton once and was not playing his typical heel character.
According to some rumors circulating, this is a sign that WWE is turning JBL into more of a babyface commentator moving forward. Don’t expect him to fully cheer on the good guys, but expect to hear a lot less insults from him. We will essentially be hearing a neutered JBL, at least for the time being.
The idea is that if JBL continues to insult everybody while on commentary, it will only fuel the fire in regards to the bullying accusations. It is obvious that WWE is letting this all blow over and they don’t want to keep giving fans a reason to bring it up.

We will get a better idea on this weeks episode of Smackdown Live but fans should expect a more toned down version of JBL on Tuesday nights.
