John Cena defeated AJ Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble to win the WWE World Championship. With the win, he tied Ric Flair with his 16th World Championship victory. This puts Cena in very elite company as him and Flair now share the prestigious honor.

Flair was also interviewed backstage of the Rumble after Cena won the title. He said that he couldn’t be happier for Cena and he is one of his biggest fans. He says that if someone was going to tie it or eventually break it, couldn’t be a better guy than John.
A great accomplishment for Cena. That puts him in the record books forever and he has a great chance of breaking the record before he hangs up the boots. Congratulations to Cena and hats off to both him and AJ Styles for a fantastic match.
