Cody Rhodes Posts Cryptic Tweet After NXT Takeover Toronto

Cody Rhodes was not present at this years tournament final of the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic, an event named after his father. Rhodes left WWE several months ago. It is being said that WWE is blocking him from using the Rhodes name on the independent scene, as it is trademark of theirs. He is going by simply ‘Cody’ on televised shows.

Rhodes posted a cryptic tweet after NXT Takeover Toronto:

There are a few things this could be. It certainly could do with WWE using his father’s likeness to promote a tournament, but refusing to allow him to use the name elsewhere. It could have to do with the Authors of Pain winning the tournament named after his father. Or it could be completely unrelated to NXT Takeover and just really ironic timing…

It also could have to do with his friend Tye Dillinger losing his match at the event:

Guess we will never know for sure, but it is certain that something pissed him off tonight about the show. Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

  1. WWE isnt disrespecting the Rhodes name. He should be able to use his Rhodes name in the indy scene tho.

Stardust should go by the name “Cody Rodes” lol.
