WWF 2001/02: WWF vs WCW Part 10 – Royal Rumble 2002 “Extreme Reinforcements”

2002 has arrived and so has the first PPV of the new year the Royal Rumble. The war between the WWF vs WCW now branches into the Road to WrestleMania 18 as now ECW has jumped into the fray as ECW seeks to turn the tide in favor to the WWF. Stone Cold Steve Austin gets one more shot for the Undisputed Championship against Chris Jericho, Stephanie McMahon has one chance to eliminate Eric Bischoff from the WWF and bring ownership back to the McMahon family. The WWF/ECW’s Dudley Boyz look to fire the first turning point against The Filthy Animals but the Royal Rumble match could ultimately dictate what direction the war is heading into WrestleMania X-8 with The Rock as the number one entrant can he survive 29 other superstars including WCW but also his own fellow WWF/ECW Superstars…
Royal Rumble Results
January 20th, 2002 from the The Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA

Hardcore Match for the Undisputed WWF Tag Team Championship: The WWF/ECW’s The Dudley Boyz def. WCW’s Undisputed WWF Tag Team Champions The Filthy Animals w/Torrie Wilson (c) to win the titles
– The Royal Rumble kicks off with the Hardcore Match for the Tag Team Titles between The Dudley Boyz and the champions The Flithy Animals managed by Torrie Wilson
– The Dudley Boyz make there entrance, leading to the Flithy Animals attacking The Dudleyz in the aisle way to begin the match
– They brawl at ringside, where Kidman grabs a chair from under the ring and smacks it across the back of Bubba Ray as Kidman then pulls out a table and sets it up near the end of the entrance way
– Rey Mysterio grabs another chair and they get D-Von in the ring and they go for a double con-chairto as D-Von stands up but D-Von is able to drop down as the chairs smash against each other leading to D-Von hitting a double clothesline to Kidman and Rey
– As a result, the Dudleyz begin double-teaming Mysterio and they bring in a trash can filled with weapons like a singapore cane a “Do Not Enter” sign and a trash can lid and went for the Wazzup Headbutt but Kidman came back in the ring and hit a springboard enzugri to D-Von causing D-Von to fall to the outside
– Mysterio and Kidman start double teaming Bubba and Mysterio smashes the garbage can over Bubba’s head
– Kidman grabs the trash can lid and goes to smash Bubba Ray face first into the lid in the corner but Bubba Ray fights back and rams Kidman’s head into the lid
– Mysterio eventually climbs the top rope but Bubba Ray catches him when he goes for the hurricarana and powerbombs him in the middle of the ring as D-Von enters the ring and Bubba calls for D-Von to get the table
– The Dudleys set up the table and Torrie hops on the apron and she distracts the Dudleyz as she takes off her top revealing her black bra leading to The Flithy Animals taking advantage as they use the singapore cane and the “Do Not Enter” sign to get the advantage
– Mysterio and Kidman are able to get Bubba on the table and Mysterio goes up top to go for a 450 splash to put Bubba threw the table, but D-Von gets on the apron and shoves Mysterio off making him go through the table on the outside
– Kidman starts attacking D-Von when he enters the ring, allowing Bubba to hit the Bubba Bomb to Kidman before re-setting the table back in the center of the ring leading to The Dudleyz hitting Kidman with a 3D through the table as Bubba makes the cover and gets the 3 count to win the WWF Tag Team Championship and to bring the titles back to the WWF/ECW – After the match Torrie is checking on Kidman and Bubba gets that look on his face as Bubba grabs Torrie by the hair and tells D-Von to get one more table as D-Von leaves and gets one more table and sets it up as Bubba ends up going to the corner and is able to sit on the top rope as D-Von is able to get Torrie into the position for Bubba to powerbomb her and Bubba powerbombs Torrie through the table!

Interview: The WWF’s The Rock
– The Coach is backstage with The Rock, who says that he is winning the Royal Rumble by throwing 29 other Candy Asses over the top rope and go on to Wrestlemania to become The Undisputed Champion
– “If Ya Smell What The Rock Is …” as Stone Cold steps in and interrupts
– Stone Cold says he knows there history but tonight he is going to take the Undisputed Title away from Chris Jericho and then maybe at WrestleMania if he *Rock* wins the Royal Rumble he’ll stomp a mudhole in The Rock’s ass one more time
– Rock says he hopes it will come down to them again at WrestleMania and but this time it will be The Rock standing over him *Stone Cold* with the Undisputed Title

WWF Intercontinental Championship Match: WCW’s Booker T def. The WWF’s Edge (c) to win the title
– Booker gets off to a fast start in this match and pounds on Edge, but can only score a two count for his efforts
– Edge rebounds, though, and hits Booker with a huge back bodydrop
– He attempts to hit the Edgecution, but Booker turns the tables and hits a huge spinebuster
– RVD tries to hit a Houston Hangover from the top rope, but Edge pushes him off
– Edge follows with a leap off the top rope that stuns both men
– He then goes to spear Booker, but Booker pushes the referee into the way to absorb the blow!
– Booker grabs the United States Title, and gets back in the ring and whacks Edge in the face with it!
– Booker then hits the Book-End and makes the cover and gets a 3 count to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship and to bring it over to WCW!

WWF Women’s Championship: WCW’s Jazz (c) def. The WWF/ECW’s Lita to retain the title
– WCW’s Stacy Keibler comes to the ring next to serve as the special guest referee for this match
– Lita sports a cast on her left wrist, the result of a brutal attack by Jazz last week
– Jazz picks up right where she left off by brutally beating Lita
– A sunset flip turns into a Jazz pin attempt, but Lita counters with a pin attempt of her own but Stacy is slow to make the count
– Soon after, Lita and Stacy get into an argument and they exchange shoves
– Lita then rolls up Jazz into a pin, but Stacy delays her count, allowing Jazz to recover and kick out
– Shortly after, Lita hits the twist of fate and nearly gets the win, but Jazz kicks out
– Lita displays her own toughness by kicking out after a stiff DDT from Jazz
– Moments later, Jazz hits Lita with the Bitch Clamp to pin Lita and retain the title – After the match, Jazz and Stacy continue to attack Lita until Trish Stratus comes out to make save hitting Stacy with the bulldog as Jazz got out of the ring while Stacy and Trish were brawling

Backstage: The WWF/ECW’s Stephanie & Vince McMahon
– Stephanie McMahon is in her locker room getting ready for the I Quit Match against Eric Bischoff
– as Stephanie is stretching Vince McMahon walks in as Vince and Stephanie share a father and daughter hug
– Vince tells Stephanie that he is proud of her for standing up for herself but Vince expresses his concern to Stephanie about this I Quit Match and that this war already cost him the WWF but he does not want it to cost him his own daughter in the process
– Stephanie tells her father that she appreciates his concern but she feels if this is the only way to get the WWF back to the McMahon Family then this is what she has to do as Vince tells Stephanie he understands and wishes her luck before leaving the locker room

I Quit Match For 100% Ownership of the WWF: WCW’s Eric Bischoff w/William Regal def. The WWF/ECW’s Stephanie McMahon to become 100% owner of the WWF
– Next up is the I Quit Match that determines who is the 100% owner of the WWF
– Eric Bischoff comes out to the ring with William Regal in his karate attire
– Bischoff grabs a mic after Stephanie McMahon’s entrance and offers Stephanie a chance to Quit to “spare her” what she will go through but Stephanie slaps Bischoff in the face as the match begins
– Stephanie starts beating up Bischoff but Bischoff gains the upper hand by throwing Stephanie down to the mat by her hair
– Bischoff proceeds to beat up and dominate Stephanie but Stephanie refuses to quit
– Vince McMahon makes his way to ringside with a towel in his hand and Bischoff sees him and has a smirk on his face but Stephanie low blows Bischoff and actually hits the Pedigree to Eric Bischoff
– William Regal proceeds to enter the ring and hits Stephanie with the cross armed neckbreaker leading to Vince getting in the ring and punching Regal’s lights out!
– Vince starts beating down Regal and throws him out of the ring as Vince leaves the ring and grabs a steel chair and clocks Regal with the chair! – Eric Bischoff in the ring however lays out Stephanie with a roundhouse kick and Bischoff grabs a steel pipe as Bischoff proceeds to start choking Stephanie out with the pipe but Stephanie still refused to quit until Vince reluctantly threw in the towel as WWF Official Mike Choida called for the bell – Eric Bischoff has won the I Quit Match and is now the 100% owner of the WWF as Bischoff goes up the ramp smiling from ear to ear as Vince is checking on Stephanie as Vince gives a death stare toward Bischoff on the stage

INERVIEW: WCW’s Chris Jericho
– Michael Cole asks Jericho about facing Stone Cold for the Undisputed Title again tonight
– Jericho says that he will end the Rattlesnake’s hopes of becoming the Undisputed Champion because tonight is Austin’s last chance and that is exactly what it will end up being which is his last match for the Undisputed Championship

If Stone Cold does not defeat Chris Jericho he will not get another shot at the Undisputed WWF Championship, Undisputed WWF Championship Match: WCW’s Chris Jericho (c) def. The WWF/ECW’s Stone Cold Steve Austin to retain the title
– The match goes back and forth with Stone Cold and Chris Jericho battling each other in and outside the ring and Austin eventually gets the upper hand and starts stomping a mudhole in Jericho
– The Impact Players suddenly sprint out to the ring and Lance Storm attempts to superkick Austin but Austin ducks and hits Storm with the Stun Gun
– As Storm rolls out of the ring Justin Credible attempts to hit Austin with the singapore cane but Austin ducks and hits Credible with the Stone Cold Stunner!
– Austin kicks Credible out of the ring but as WWF Official Earl Hebner is distracted with Lance Storm trying to get back into the ring, Jericho whacks Austin in the back of the head with the singapore cane as Jericho gets the cane out of the ring as Storm helps Credible up as The Impact Players leave the ringside area
– Jericho makes the cover as Hebner notices Jericho has the cover but Austin kicks out at 2 and a half!
– Jericho hits a follow up lionsault but again only gets a 2 count as Jericho is frustrated and goes over to the corner and takes off the top turnbuckle exposing the metal
– Jericho comes back but Austin starts fighting back with right hands and irish whips Jericho and goes for the kick to the gut but Jericho catches it and gives Austin the middle finger before tripping him up but Austin stops Jericho from locking in the Walls of Jericho by rolling to his side making Jericho flip over
– Austin starts getting the upper hand and goes for the Stunner on Jericho but Jericho pushes him off nearly into the exposed turnbuckle corner but Austin stops himself
– Jericho charges in and Austin hits Jericho with the stun gun making Jericho bounce face first off the exposed metal as Jericho is stunned and out on his feet and as he turns around Austin hits Jericho with the Stone Cold Stunner!
– Austin goes for the cover and Hebner gets to 2 but as his hand is coming down for 3, Hollywood Hulk Hogan who was coming down to ringside after Stunner pulls Hebner out of the ring by the foot and decks Hebner with a right hand!
– Austin sees what happened as Austin is pissed and Hogan is going back up the ramp with a smirk on his face as Austin gives Hogan the double middle bird while in the meantime Jericho had snuk out of the ring after Austin got off him and grabbed the WWF Title
– Jericho gets back into the ring and as Austin turns around, Jericho hits Austin with the WWF Title as Jericho makes the cover and WCW Official Nick Patrick sprints down to the ring and counts the 3! – Jericho retains the Undisputed Title and is awarded the titles as thanks to Hollywood Hogan, Stone Cold can never get another shot at the Undisputed Championship.

THE ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH
– It is now time for the 30-men Royal Rumble match, where the winner will get to wrestle the Undisputed Champion at WrestleMania X-8
– The Rock and WCW’s “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner are the first two entrants
– Right from the start, The Rock takes it too Steiner and starts layeth the smackdown on Steiner’s candy ass
– The Rock is trying to eliminate Scott Steiner early but Steiner is able to hold off elimination until WCW’s Ric Flair enters at #3
– Flair, gets a big smile on his face as he is coming down the ramp as The Rock is giving Flair the “Just Bring It” hand motion
– Steiner comes up behind The Rock and low blows Rock and Flair enters the ring as he and Steiner begin beating on The Rock
– Steiner and Flair beat down The Rock with Flair working on the legs and Steiner working on the back
– Ric Flair then locks The Rock in the Figure 4, and Scott Steiner starts dropping the elbows on The Rock
– Flair continues applying pressure in the figure four as The Rock is screaming in agony
– Flair finally lets go as Flair is doing the Flair strut while Steiner is doing his push-ups while The Rock is holding his leg in very serious pain
– The WWF/ECW’s Rikishi enters at #4 as Flair and Steiner get smiles on there faces as they know the history between The Rock and Rikishi
– Flair and Steiner step aside for Rikishi with The Rock laying on the mat, Rikishi looks at them both and then walks straight towards The Rock
– Flair and Steiner smile from ear to ear before Rikishi lays both Flair and Steiner out with superkicks
– Rikishi then helps The Rock up as they have a staredown before turning there attention to Flair and Steiner who are getting up as The Rock and Rikishi start laying the smackdown on Flair and Steiner
– The WWF/ECW’s Bradshaw enters at #5 and begins dominating all the participants by finishing off Flair, then Rikishi, spinning him 360°, then Steiner, with three consecutive Clotheslines From Hell
– Bradshaw attempts to perform a Clothesline from Hell on The Rock as well, but The Rock counters it into the Rock Bottom
– Rock picks Bradshaw up and tosses him over the top rope for the first elimination of the night
– WCW’s Lance Storm enters at #6 and focuses on The Rock
– Steiner battles Rikishi and sets him up for the Steiner Recliner
– Storm attempts to perform a Superkick on The Rock, but Austin catches his foot and hits the Rock Bottom on him before eliminating him as well
– Steiner is about to lock the Steiner Recliner on Rikishi, but The Rock spins him around, Rock Bottoms him and eliminates him
– WCW’s Chuck Palumbo enters at #7 but is quickly tossed over the top rope by Rock but Palumbo lands on the apron
– Rikishi tries to eliminate O’Haire but O’Haire fights back and stays in the match
– WCW’s WWF Hardcore Champion Sting, the eighth entrant, dominates upon entering the match, and eliminates both, Rikishi and even WCW’s own Palumbo proving it’s every man for himself
– The WWF/ECW’s Matt Hardy enters next and Lita, who accompanies Matt, enters the ring to help
– The next entrant is The WWF/ECW’s Jeff Hardy, and all three attack Sting
– Sting eventually eliminates them both
– ECW’s first entrant Tommy Dreamer enters as #11 and he brings a garbage can filled with weapons, intent on making this a “extreme” Royal Rumble
– Dreamer starts using the singapore cane to get a advantage until Sting is able to stop Dreamer’s momentum by whacking Dreamer with the baseball bat he brought to the ring with him, The Hardys return and continue their attack but are thrown out again by Sting,
– Suddenly, Tommy Dreamer eliminates Sting
– Sting looks shocked as he re-enters the ring and eliminates Dreamer
– Sting is not done yet and leaves the ring to go after Dreamer
– The WWF/ECW’s Rob Van Dam is #12 and Sting assaults him during his entrance, but then continues his attack on Dreamer
– Sting throws Dreamer into the crowd, and brawls with him to the backstage area, including smashing his head into a popcorn machine as Dreamer is left a bloody mess
– Back in the ring, Flair chops The Rock in the corner, when RVD enters and nearly eliminates Flair until Lance Storm attacks RVD and Flair is saved from being eliminated
– The WWF/ECW’s Christian enters next as he and Storm battle it out as Christian uses a stop sign to level Storm in the head with
– WCW’s Diamond Dallas Page enters at #14 and starts attacking Christian, performing a Diamond Cutter on him
– WCW’s Mike Awesome enters at #15, while Lance Storm throws Christian over the top rope to eliminate him
– After eliminating Christian, Storm taunts Christian with The Rock waiting in the background
– Storm turns around and gets hit with the two punches before hitting the spit punch, causing Storm to fall over the top rope
– The WWF/ECW’s The Godfather, #16, appears with a dozen of his FINEST ho’s but once he enters the ring, is quickly eliminated by the WCW trio
– The WWF/ECW’s Albert, #17, suffers the same fate and is eliminated within a few seconds
– The Rock’s chances go from bad to worse, when WCW’s Test enters at #18
– The Rock is barely able to stay in the match, when the nineteenth entrant, The WWF/ECW’s Kurt Angle comes out to help
– Angle dominates upon his entrance, taking out DDP, RVD and Flair with German Suplexes and then eliminates Mike Awesome
– Val Venis makes his return as #20 and helps the WWF/ECW stars against WCW, but is quickly eliminated by Angle and it’s back to Angle, RVD and The Rock going against DDP, Flair and Test
– Angle, RVD and Rock are eventually outnumbered, when WCW’s Scott Hall enters at #21
– Hall is going right after The Rock but RVD comes for the save but is out-numbered
– RVD is able to fight them off until Flair hits a low blow and then Hall hits RVD with a Outsiders Edge
– Flair then also low blows both Angle and The Rock and then Hall eliminates RVD, while Flair goes for the Figure Four on Austin
– The WWF’s Triple H’s music begins playing at #21, Hall tells Triple H to bring it, as HHH makes his entrance to a great reaction
– Triple H enters the ring and immedtialy starts attacking the 4 WCW stars
– Tripls H performs a Running Clothesline on Test, eliminating Test
– HHH and Hall continue to fight each other until Triple H hits a big time spinebuster on Hall
– The Rock locks on the Sharpshooter to Flair but DDP is able to break up the sharpshooter after hitting a Diamond Cutter to Angle
– The WWF’s The Undertaker enters as #23 and eliminates DDP
– The Undertaker then hits the chokeslam on both The Rock & Angle, and then comes face to face with Triple H have a huge staredown teasing coming to blow
– #24, ECW’s Raven, enters but has no chance against The Undertaker and HHH, who have seemingly formed an alliance and the two eliminate Raven
– Mr. Perfect joins the match at #25, and helps the WCW guys and puts on a great performance, able to hang with both, The Undertaker and HHH
– WCW’s Kevin Nash, #26, knocks the heads of The Undertaker and HHH together before battling The Rock
– Triple H starts attacking Nash and HHH and Angle try to eliminate Nash but fail due to Hall stopping them
– “The Big Red Machine” The WWF/ECW’s enters at #27 and performs a chokeslam on Angle
– Kane then hits a SCM on The Rock and then also on Perfect, Nash and he and Kane even hit a double chokeslam on Triple H ending the HHH/Taker alliance
– As the Rumble countdown hits zero, the WWF’s The Big Show music hits, #28 and The B-O-D await the arrival
– The Big Show enters the ring and is able to hang with the B-O-D
– The Big Show starts dominating and hits everyone with chokeslams
– The Big Show goes for the chokeslam on Hall but Hall low blows The Big Show as he and Nash eliminate The Big Show
– The WWF’s Billy Gunn enters at #29 and attempts to fight The Outsiders, but The Outsiders are too much and they easily eliminate Billy Gunn
– As everyone in the arena awaits number 30, The Outsiders, Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair represent WCW while The Rock, Kurt Angle, Kane, Triple H and The Undertaker represent the WWF in the last stages of The Rumble
– Rock then attempts to eliminate Scott Hall over the top rope but Hall holds on
– Ric Flair starts attacking The Rock while The Undertaker goes after Kevin Nash
– The Rock starts fighting back against Flair and eliminates Flair, while Perfect then tries to eliminate The Rock
– Kevin Nash fights off The Rock and battles Triple H, while The Rock hits the Rock Bottom on Kane
– Hollywood Hogan enters at #30 in what will be his first match in the WWF since King of the Ring 1993 and performs a Big Boot on Kurt Angle before throwing him over the top rope eliminating Angle
– Hogan then eliminates Kane, who is still out from the Rock Bottom
– Perfect is eliminated after Hogan hits him with a Big Boot, sending Perfect flying over the top rope as the nWo then team up and eliminate The Undertaker
– The final five remaining superstars therefore are Rock, HHH, Hogan, Hall and Nash
– The Rock hit a Spinebuster on Hall, taking him out momentarily so Kevin Nash has to fight off both HHH and The Rock
– Kevin Nash big boots The Rock and then tries to do the same to HHH but HHH ducks and HHH hits Nash with the pedigree as Nash rolls out of the ring
– HHH then goes for the Pedigree on Hall but Hall counters and after Hall reverses a irish whip, Nash, who’s on the outside, pulls down the top rope, causing HHH to get eliminated
– the final four are The Rock and the entire nWo as The Rock hits flying clothesline to Scott Hall
– Nash knocks down The Rock as the nWo start beating down the Rock as Nash then goes to bounce off the ropes but Triple H hits the ring and pulls down the top rope as Nash goes over the top to eliminate Nash as HHH and Nash brawl all the way to the backstage area
– Hall holds up The Rock for Hogan, but The Rock ducks down and Hogan who was going for the big right hand decks Hall by mistake as Hogan is in shock, as he turns around into The Rock hitting Hogan with the spinebuster
– Hall meanwhile gets up and attacks The Rock from behind, he drags The Rock near the ropes, sets him up for the Outsiders Edge but The Rock backdrops Hall over the top rope and gets tossed on the floor, and is eliminated
– As a result, The Rock and Hollywood Hogan are the two men left in the Rumble match as the two come face to face for a epic staredown
– The two battle back and forth before Hogan hits The Rock with a low blow to gain the upper hand
– Hogan starts saying he is going to eliminate The Rock by making the throwing over the top rope motion, and then the glass shatters, and Stone Cold Steve Austin starts making his way down the aisle way with Hogan looking shocked un-knowing The Rock is getting up behind him, Austin stops at the end of the aisle way as his music stops as Hogan is inviting him to enter the ring as Austin just smirks and gives Hogan the double bird before Hogan turns around as The Rock clotheslines Hogan over the top rope to win the Royal Rumble match
– As a result, The Rock is going to Wrestlemania to fight for the Undisputed Championship

    • ya I feel 1 vs 30 in the Rumble is a cool idea that is almost never if not never been used WWE I think for there Rumble matches when it comes to the final two and HHH not winning was simple because of bringing in The Outsiders I just felt it was really needed and necessary to do a rivalry with HHH and The Outsiders
