Curt Hawkins was billed to make his official return to Smackdown LIVE this week. We have seen a number of vignettes for him over the past few weeks, that hyped his return to the ring. It looks like the return got scrapped for Smackdown this week and was instead replaced by another vignette (which you can see above).
Hawkins technically made his Smackdown return as he wrestled a dark match against Brandon Scott (who was squashed by Bo Dallas on RAW this week):

Hawkins picked up the win in the dark match.

It appears like the WWE is calling this his return, as Zack Ryder congratulated him on Twitter:
Congrats to @TheCurtHawkins on his return to #SDLive!

Interesting choice. Must have been pressed for time and cut his segment. Guess that tells you the amount of plans they have moving forward for Hawkins. Guessing it might be another situation like Jinder Mahal on RAW.
