WWF 2001: WWF vs WCW Part 9 Vengeance “4 Men, 3 Matches, 2 Titles, 1 Undisputed Champion”

The WWF seeks Vengeance on WCW after Team WCW defeated Team WWF at Survivor Series with help from the nWo which gave Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon 50-50 ownership of the WWF until Stephanie McMahon revealed the night after Raw that she had bought 25% of Vince’s stocks which still gives her some power. But while Bischoff and Shane have to worry about Stephanie. History is prepared to be made with the crowning of a Undisputed WWF Champion as Stone Cold seeks revenge on Chris Jericho, The Rock seeks revenge on DDP with the WWF and WCW World Titles on the line in each match. The Outsiders compete in there first match in the WWF since 1996 against the Brothers of Destruction and Sting and Rob Van Dam seek to finally end there issue over the WWF Hardcore Championship as only few will get Vengeance while others will begin seeking Vengeance of there own

 

Vengeance 2001
December 9th, 2001 from the Compag Center in San Jose, CA

Submission Match: The WWF’s Kurt Angle def. WCW’s Scott Steiner
– Angle downs Steiner with a series of takedowns as the match begins, even downing Big Poppa Pump with leg submissions trying to set Steiner up for the Ankle Lock
– Angle goes for the Ankle Lock early, but Steiner battles out
– Steiner then tries the Steiner Recliner, but Angle prevents it
– Angle soon goes for the Angle Slam, but Steiner powers his way out of it and sends Angle shoulder-first into the ringpost twice
– Steiner follows up with a backbreaker and a elbow drop before doing the series of push-ups that he did after the elbow drop
– Soon after, Steiner locks in a sleeper hold, but Angle battles out of it
– Angle goes for a belly-to-belly suplex, but Steiner counters and continues to stay in control, until Kurt nails him with a slingshot, hanging Steiner up on the top turnbuckle
– Angle suplexes and batters the “Big Poppa Pump”
– Steiner goes for a steiner-line, but Angle catches him and locks in the Crippler Crossface on Steiner!
– But Steiner fights his way out of the hold and assaults Angle in the corner
– Angle reverses an axe handle into a suplex and locks in a single leg boston crab
– The American Hero is in control as Steiner tries to fight out of the hold
– Finally, Angle lets go of the hold when Steiner gets to the ropes
– Steiner gets back to his feet and catches Angle coming in with a clothesline and counters with a belly to belly suplex
– Steiner then goes right to work on Steiner’s back, but Angle fights back, nailing Steiner with an enzuigiri as Kurt grabs for Steiner’s ankle
– Steiner nails Angle with a steiner-line, a t-bone suplex and locks in the Steiner Recliner on Angle
– Kurt counters the move and soon after, Angle hits Steiner with a series of consecutive German suplexes
– Angle then puts the ankle lock on Steiner, but Steiner counters sending Angle into the turnbuckles and Steiner does a roll up but only uses the roll up to lock Angle in his own Ankle Lock!
– Kurt, somehow, is able to grab Steiner’s ankle and snatch in the Ankle Lock again
– Steiner gets to the ropes, but Angle doesn’t break the hold until the count of five
– The ref argues with Kurt and Steiner uses this to cheap shot Kurt
– Steiner nails a double underhook powerbomb on Angle and goes for the Steiner Screwdriver, but Kurt lands on his feet
– Kurt then hits the Angle Slam, Angle then locks Steiner in the Ankle Lock again!
– Steiner tries to crawl his way to the ropes and is close to the ropes but the pain is too much for Steiner and he taps out!

WWF Intercontinental and WCW United States Championship Unification Match: The WWF’s WWF Intercontinental Champion Edge def. WCW’s WCW United States Champion Booker T to unify the titles
– Booker T attacks Edge right at the start of the edge gaining early control
– Booker is able to batter Edge early until Edge gets the upper hand by side stepping Booker T when he charged at him as Edge throws Booker over the top rope to the floor
– Booker and Edge brawl on the outside until Booker gets the upper hand by throwing Edge shoulder first into the steel steps
– Booker T then rolls Edge in the ring and hits a spinebuster but only gets a two count
– Now, Booker starts focusing his attack on Edge’s head due to the Conchairto that Edge had suffered way back at No Mercy
– Edge tries to fight back but Booker hits a Harlem Side Kick on Edge stopping his momentum dead in it’s tracks
– Out of nowhere, Edge counters the book-end with the Downward Spiral
– Edge then starts to get control of the match and goes for a Edgecution
– Booker counters by running Edge back first into the corner and puts Edge on the top rope and Booker joins him as Booker hits a Superplex to Edge
– Both men get up, Suddenly, Booker sets Edge up for the Sisscors Kick, Edge avoids it and then Edge goes for a spear
– Booker counters with a DDT as Edge was charging in leading to Booker again having Edge set up for the Book-End but Edge counters and hits the Edgeucution DDT and makes the cover and gets a 3 count for the victory!
– Edge is awarded both titles and raises both titles as he has just unified the Intercontinental and the United States titles for the first time in history

Backstage: Eric Bischoff, Shane McMahon & Diamond Dallas Page
– Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon are in there office shocked, as Bischoff tells Shane in disbelief that he can’t believe Edge is the IC/US Champion and that tonight now more then ever they need to rub it in Stephanie’s face by having the Undisputed Championship in WCW’s camp
– Diamond Dallas Page then enters his locker room and praises the accomplishments WCW has had so far, saying that there was one thing they don’t have but will get tonight, though, Undisputed Champion, something that he promises he would do tonight
– Shane says DDP definitely has the ability to
– DDP says that he would beat up everyone to become champion and Bischoff says that would be awesome

6-Person Tag Team Match: WCW’s The Unified WWF Tag Team Champions The Filthy Animals and Torrie Wilson def. The WWF’s The Hardy Boyz and Lita
– The Filthy Animals and Torrie attack The Hardyz and Lita before the bell
– Rey Mysterio sets Jeff up for the 619, but Jeff ducks the kicks and when Rey comes in attempting a hurricrana but Jeff catches Rey and hits a sit down powerbomb
– Jeff tags in Lita and Lita hits the Lita-Caranna to Mysterio, but Kidman comes in and clotheslines Lita down before Mysterio tags in Torrie who goes for a cover but only gets a two count
– A brawl ensues between The Filthy Animals and The Hardys after Torrie tags in Kidman cause of Jeff and Matt trying to prevent The Animals from furthering injuring Lita, but The Filthy Animals gets the upper hand but Matt is able to drag Lita to there corner and tags himself in
– The Hardys get the upper hand and knocks Rey to the outside, which leads to Jeff getting on the top rope and then Credible hitting a flying cross body onto Mysterio!
– Matt goes to the top rope for the legdrop on Kidman, but Torrie gets on the apron and takes off her top revealing a white bra to distract Matt which leads to Lita getting Torrie off the apron but Kidman trips Matt off the middle rope leading to Kidman hitting the Kid Krusher and makes the cover and gets a 3 count to get the victory!

Backstage: Trish & The Rock
– Trish Stratus knocks on The Rock’s door and says it was amazing how he stood up to Eric Bischoff on Thursday
– Rock says thanks and Trish says she wants to wish him luck in his match
– She then kisses him on the cheek
– Trish goes to leave and he asks where she is going
– He tells her to be quiet and says that just so they are on the same page, the only thing on Rock’s mind was walking out of San Diego as Undisputed Champion
– But after that, he says there would be plenty of time for her to smell what The Rock is cookin’!

Tag Team Match: WCW’s The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) w/Hollywood Hulk Hogan def. The WWF’s The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane)
– This is The Outsiders first match in the WWF since there infamous last night in Madison Square Garden, over five years ago
– The Outsiders take the early advantage as Nash gets in the ring and hits Kane with a huge sidewalk slam
– The Undertaker broke the pin attempt
– Nash and Hall isolate Kane for a long time before Kane hit a Double Chokeslam to The Outsiders
– Finally, Kane is able to tag in Taker, who cleans house
– Nash and Kane then brawl on the outside
– In the ring, Taker hits the Chokeslam on Hall
– Kane is getting the advantage on Nash on the outside, until Hogan hits Kane in the back with a double axe handle as the referee is distracted in the ring as Taker hits the Tombstone Piledriver on Hall
– Taker goes for the cover but Nash pulls Taker out and knocks him out with a straight right hand
– Kane tries fighting off Hogan leading to Nash hitting the Big Boot on Kane which leads to Nash taking a part the announcers table
– Nash knees Kane in the gut, and Nash hits Kane with the Jacknife Powerbomb through the announcers table as the nWo bury Kane under the broken pieces of the announce table taking him out of the match
– Nash and Hall then pick up Taker and throw him back in the ring and start to double team Taker
– Taker however is fighting them off and sends into respective corners before hitting running clotheslines to both Nash and Hall in the corners
– Taker sets Nash up now for the Last Ride but Hall is distracting the referee
– This allows Hogan to sneak into the ring and spray Taker right in the eyes with a can of spray paint and he leaves the ring before the ref can see him leading to Nash hitting Taker with the Jacknife Powerbomb as Nash made the cover and got a 3 count for the victory
– The nWo proceed to beat down Taker with Kane still knocked out as Hogan knocks Taker out with the can of spray paint and then proceed to spray paint Taker’s back with the letters “nWo”

Hardcore Match for the WWF Hardcore Championship: WCW’s Sting def. The WWF’s WWF Hardcore Champion Rob Van Dam (c) to win the title
– The match that follows is the Hardcore Title Match between Rob Van Dam and Sting
– Before the start of the match, Rob Van Dam attacks Sting on the ramp way, during his entrance and soon after, the match begins with the brawling
– The two brawl up the ramp and into the crowd, where Rob Van Dam goes to the top of the stands and does a flying cross body off the top of the stands but only gets a 2 count
– After many assaults by RVD, Sting fights back and is able to bring it back to the ringside area and hit the RVD with a Steel Chair,
– However, RVD counters the next chair shot with a Van Daminator
– Sting kicks out at two and grabs the baseball bat that he had dropped on the ramp as RVD follows him
– When RVD goes to grab Sting, Sting whacks RVD right in the ribs with the bat, then Sting levels him across the back with the bat.
– Sting with baseball bat in hand brings RVD up the ramp onto the stage and he beats on RVD and attempts to throw RVD off the stage
– RVD fights back and is able to knock Sting down with a roundhouse kick, RVD hits a rolling thunder, but only gets a 2 and a half count
– RVD is able to find and use a ladder to climb up to the top of one of the split trons with the Vengeance logo on it, RVD goes for the Frog Splash but Sting moves out of the way just in time, Sting gets up and picks up RVD and hits him with the Scorpion Death Drop on the stage and covers him to get a 3 count and win the WWF Hardcore Title!

Backstage: Stephanie McMahon & Stone Cold Steve Austin
– Stone Cold Steve Austin is in his locker stretching, when he is approached by Stephanie McMahon
– Stephanie tells Austin she does not forgive him for the stunners he has given her but she is confident that he will become Undisputed Champion
– Stone Cold tells Stephanie that as far as he is concerned he still does not trust her
– He says if her daddy did not put his trust into the nWo maybe he’d still be running things and Austin says that he was going to walk out as Undisputed Champion and then focus on getting his hands on the nWo
– Stephanie says if he needs to focus on Chris Jericho, and worry about the nWo another time
– She says that tomorrow on RAW, if Stone Cold won, she would walk the aisle and crown him the Undisputed Champion and even share a beer with him
– Austin says he would see Stephanie tommorrow but for now he tells her to get the hell out of his locker room as Stephanie ends up leaving

WWF Womens Championship Match: WCW’s WWF Women’s Champion Jazz (c) def. The WWF’s Trish Stratus to retain the title
– Trish goes for the bulldog off the ropes, but Jazz shoves her off and kicks her in the head for a two-count
– Trish then countered a sit out powerbomb with a roll up but Jazz kicked out at leading to Trish hitting a roundhouse kick and then the bulldog but still only got a 2 count
– Trish then went up top but Jazz cut her off and went up to the top with Trish as Jazz raked the eyes and then hit a Fisherman Brainbuster from the top rope and made the cover and got a 3 count to retain the title

WWF New York: Rikishi
– Footage of Eric Bischoff kissing Rikishi’s ass on last Thursday’s Smackdown is shown and then Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler welcome Rikishi live from WWF New York
– Rikishi says it was his pleasure and for a minute, he thought he might have to have Eric’s head surgically removed from his ass
– He says that he is back and ready to back that ass up

Backstage: Eric Bischoff
– Bischoff watches this on his monitor and simply says: “He, who laughs last, laughs loudest.”

WWF Championship Match: Chris Jericho def. The WWF’s WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) to win the title
– Stone Cold’s music hits and Austin sprints down to the ring and takes it right to Y2J
– Austin brutalized Y2J until Y2J side stepped Austin sending him through the ropes when Austin attempted to clothesline Jericho over the top rope
– Jericho turned the momentum and started to brutalize Austin on the outside
– Jericho repeatedly dropped Austin on the barricade and the announcers table as Jericho even tore up the floor exposing the concrete floor
– Austin starts to fight back
– Austin gets Jericho on the announcers table where Austin attempts the Stunner but Jericho caught the kick
– Jericho went for the Walls of Jericho, trying to turn Austin over but Austin instead flipped Jericho off the table onto the concrete!
– Austin went to suplex Jericho on the concrete but Jericho countered and actually suplexed Austin onto the concrete!
– Jericho threw Austin back into the ring and started to beat on Austin and specfically targeted Austin’s back to try to set him up for the Walls of Jericho later in the match
– Jericho rammed Austin back first into the corner before going up to the top turnbuckle
– Jericho went for the double axe handle but Austin hit him right in the gut with a right hand as Austin regained control
– Austin then went for the Stone Cold Stunner but Jericho caught the kick and turned it into the Walls of Jericho!
– Austin screamed in pain but was able to make it to the ropes
– Jericho started beating Austin down again but as he bounced off the ropes Austin side stepped Jericho and threw him over the top rope to the outside
– Austin left the ring and brought Jericho back in the ring and went for the Stunner again but Jericho shoved Austin off sending Austin into WWF referee Mike Choida knocking him out
– Jericho then low blowed Austin and Jericho hit Austin with the Stone Cold Stunner!
– Jericho then seeing the referee is out cold counted his own 3 count and left the ring and grabbed the title and started going up the ramp with it and was holding it up like his 3 count meant he won the title
– Austin saw Jericho leaving and Austin got out of the ring and decked Jericho from behind before bringing him back to the ringside area and into the ring
– Austin then teed off with right hands and went to irish whip Jericho but Jericho countered as Austin ducked a right hand and when Jericho turned around Austin hit Jericho with the Stone Cold Stunner!
– Austin tries to revive the still knocked out Mike Choida as Choida is seemingly starting to revive with his back still turned to Austin as Austin proceeded to turn around and was suddenly hit in the face with the WWF Title by The nWo’s Scott Hall!
– Hall quickly got the hell out of the ring as Jericho proceeded to crawl over and cover Austin as Mike Choida counted the 3!
– Chris Jericho is now the new WWF Champion and will face the winner of the WCW World Championship Match between DDP and The Rock to determine a Undisputed Champion thanks to help from Scott Hall

Backstage: The nWo
– Scott Hall is seen backstage joining his nWo teammates Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash in the parking lot with smiles on Hogan and Nash’s face as Hogan remarks “Looks like The Rattlesnake rattles more then bites” as the nWo share a laugh at screwing over Stone Cold Steve Austin
– The nWo leave the building in there car as J.R and Jerry Lawler on commentary talk about how one day the nWo will have to face The Rattlesnake and it will not be pretty

WCW Championship Match: The WWF’s The Rock def. WCW’s WCW World Champion Diamond Dallas Page to win the WCW Title
– DDP pulls out all the stops and brings it to The Rock from the start
– Still, The Rock can hit Booker with a DDT but Ric Flair comes out grabs the WCW title belt and nails the Rock with it
– DDP makes the cover and only gets a 2 and a half count as Flair sells the shock of The Rock kicking out perfectly
– In the ring, DDP is able to hit the Diamond Cutter but The Rock is able to kick out at 2 and a half again
– The Rock gets up and avoids another Diamond Cutter and is able to hit the Spinebuster on DDP followed by the People’s Elbow
– But Flair pulls WCW referee Charles Robinson out of the ring and interrupts the count and knocks Robinson out with a right hand
– Rock leaves the ring and as Flair does his signature “Woo” Flair turns around and The Rock nails him with a Rock Bottom on the floor
– As Rock gets back in the ring, DDP hits him with the WCW World Championship
– DDP does the Diamond Cutter sign and has The Rock set up in the Diamond Cutter but The Rock pushes DDP off into the ropes and DDP bounces off the ropes and The Rock hits him with the Rock Bottom as he was coming in
– Rock makes the cover and WWF Official Earl Hebner comes out to make the count and The Rock is the new WCW champion

In-Ring: The Rock/Jericho/DDP/Austin
– The Rock ends up having NO time to rest as Jericho’s music almost immedtialy hits after The Rock had pinned DDP
– The look on The Rock’s face was priceless with his eyes bulging out of his head as Jericho started to attack The Rock but The Rock fought back and hit a clothesline to Jericho as the match had not even begun
– Suddenly, DDP came back in the ring and laid out The Rock with a Diamond Cutter
– Stone Cold Steve Austin then sprints out to the ring and attacks DDP and clotheslines DDP over the top rope
– Austin then responded by giving Chris Jericho a Stone Cold Stunner as Austin who was still very pissed off left the ring as soon as he saw DDP again DDP ran and Austin chased DDP backstage!

Final Match For The Undisputed Championship: WWF Champion Chris Jericho (c) def. The WWF’s WCW World Champion The Rock (c) to become the Undisputed Champion – Jericho goes for a quick pinfall on Austin, but the Peoples Champion kicks out at two
– Jericho assaults The Rock, hoping to keep the momentum on his side but Rock soon tackles Jericho and follows with several right hands
– He drills Jericho’s head into the top turnbuckle repeatedly and goes for the Rock Bottom, but Jericho backs out
– The Rock then knocks Jericho to the outside
– The Rock brutalizes Jericho on the outside, pounding on the WWF Champion
– He repeatedly drops Jericho onto the barricade and sends him into the ringpost
– The Rock even sets Jericho up for the Rock Bottom on the concrete floor, but Jericho counters suplexing The Rock onto the floor
– Jericho sling shots The Rock into the ringpost and Jericho again clears the stuff off the Spanish announce table like he did to Austin
– He takes The Rock on top of the table, where Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho
– The Rock, instead, low blows Jericho, Earl Hebner does not DQ The Rock due to there needing to be a Undisputed Champion, and The Rock hits Jericho with the Rock Bottom through the table!
– The Rock tosses Jericho back into the ring but only gets a two count
– In the ring, Jericho throws The Rock shoulder first into the ringpost twice and then stomps away at him
– Jericho goes for a Spinning Heel Kick, but The Rock catches his leg and slingshots him into the top turnbuckle
– The Rock is now in control, but Jericho, out of nowhere, hits The Rock with a spinning heel kick
– The People’s Champion is out as Jericho hits the lionsault on The Rock
– Jericho goes for the cover, as the ref starts the count, but The Rock kicks out right before the three
– Jericho stomps at The Rock and goes for the Walls of Jericho, but The Rock flips Jericho over, and The Rock gets up and goes to clothesline Jericho but Jericho ducks as The Rock knocks out Earl Hebner
– The fight continues with no ref and Jericho hits a low blow and then hits Rock with his own Rock Bottom!
– WCW Official Nick Patrick comes out with Eric Bischoff to make the count but Jericho only gets a two count
– Stephanie McMahon runs down the ramp and as soon as Patrick gets up, Stephanie gets on the apron and gives Patrick a low blow but then as Stephanie gets off the apron Bischoff grabs Stephanie by her hair and throws her down to the floor!
– Back in the ring, The Rock low blows Jericho and leaves the ring and assualts Eric Bischoff, The Rock goes back in the ring and hits Jericho with a spinebuster
– Rock goes for The Peoples Elbow, but Jericho moves and goes for the Lionsault
– Rock gets his knees up and they go right into Jericho’s ribs and when The Rock gets up and Jericho turns around, The Rock hits The Rock Bottom and follows up with The Peoples Elbow but there is no ref to count the pin!
– Suddenly, WCW Owner Shane McMahon comes through the crowd and nails The Rock in the back of the head with the WCW title belt!
– Eric Bischoff throws Earl Hebner back into the ring as Jericho is able to crawl to make the cover as Jericho hooks the leg as Hebner counts The Rock’s shoulders down for the three count!
– Chris Jericho is awarded the WWF and WCW World Titles as Jericho leaves the ring and meets Bischoff and Shane on the ramp as Jericho embraces Shane and Bischoff!
– As confetti pours down from the ceiling, Eric Bischoff, Shane McMahon and Chris Jericho celebrate and Eric Bischoff, Shane McMahon and WCW indeed gets the last laugh!
– Chris Jericho is the first-ever Undisputed World Champion!

    • Ya I personally liked Jericho being the first Undisputed Champion cause it has worked out I think long term so but now onto the Royal Rumble
