The upcoming brand split is being promoted as Stephanie McMahon’s RAW vs Shane McMahon’s Smackdown in a family competition. Which McMahon will be able to dominate the ratings and put on the better show? Jim Ross on a recent episode of his The Ross Report podcast has another suggestion to help add even more competition. JR suggests offering some incentives for the writing teams to put forward the best product every single week. Below is his full comment.
Here is what JR said:
“I really like the mindset, whether it ever happens or not, to where the writing groups are competitive enough. I would set up a thing where I would look at the ratings and whatever writing team was adding the most audience, some fair way of measuring growth – keyword growth – and the team that could incur the most growth on their particular show would win some cash incentives. All legal and above board, obviously, but bonuses and the more cheese they get on their Whopper, the better their show does. I would create some competition and if it creates some better ratings, then, it’s a good idea and also put some cash in some deserving people’s pockets, so that’s one idea” (Source: The Ross Report, H/T WrestlingInc).

I agree with JR but think this should include everyone. The wrestlers, writers and producers of a specific brand. At the end of the year, whatever show is doing better gets a bonus. For some guys this could really motivate them towards putting on a better show and improving the product.

I agree 100%. The writers should get a reward for being the better show. That would cause some great competition. Wrestlers should get bonuses. That would would cause great competition and a better product during PPV’s.
Jim Ross is absolutely right.
