WWF 2001: WCW Invasion Part 5 SummerSlam “The Crow vs The Rattlesnake & The People’s Champion Returns”

The Summer has arrived which means it is time for SummerSlam. WCW and it’s Franchise Sting seek to finally take the WWF’s crown jewel away from them by taking the WWF Championship away from Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Undertaker will finally get his hands on Raven. The Rock returns to PPV to challenge for the WCW World Championship against Booker T. Eric Bischoff seeks to shut Chris Jericho up with some help from Scott Steiner but the only thing certain after SummerSlam is that the war for survival has only just begun.

August 19, 2001 from The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA

On Sunday Night Heat

First Ever Tag Team Bikini Match: WCW’s Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keibler def. The WWF’s Trish Stratus and Lita
– Lita wears a Red Bikini and Trish wears a Black Bikini
– Torrie wears a White Bikini and Stacy wears a Green Bikini
– During the match, Lita and Stacy are catfighting and with the ref distracted Torrie knocks Trish out with the paddle she used during the spanking match against Trish on Raw the night after Invasion allowing Torrie to pin Trish

Main PPV

WWF Intercontinental Championship Match: The WWF’s Edge def. WCW’s Lance Storm (c) to win the title
– As Edge walks to the ring, we see Christian backstage in a room with other WWF superstars cheering on his brother
– Late in the match the ref got knocked down by Edge accidently with a clothesline and Storm had Edge set up for the superkick but Christian comes down and shoves Edge out of the way
– Storm goes for the Superkick and Christian ends up eating the superkick
– Storm tries another superkick but Edge ducks under and Edge went for the kick to the gut to set up the impaler DDT but Storm caught it and tripped Edge up locking him in the Single Leg Crab
– Storm had the hold locked on very tight but Edge barely got to the ropes
– Storm goes for the Superkick again but again Edge ducks and this time hits the spear and pins him to win the match and the Intercontinental Championship

Backstage: Test
– Michael Cole asks Test why he left the WWF
– Test grabs the mic and says he left because in the WWF there was no loyalty

WCW’s Raven’s Flock *Saturn, Kanyon and Stevie Richards* & Test def. The WWF’s WWF Tag Team Champions The Dudley Boyz and The APA
– The Dudley Boyz bring Spike and Molly with them
– During the match, Shane McMahon sneaks into the ring and smack Bubba Ray with a chair, which allows Test to pin him

WCW Cruiserweight/WWF Light Heavyweight Title Unification Match: WCW’s Kidman def. The WWF’s X-Pac to unify the titles
– Albert comes to the ring during the match
– X-Pac goes for the BroncoBuster but Kidman counters it into a low-blow
– Kidman goes to the top rope but Albert gets on the apron and Kidman knocks him off the apron with a right hand
– Kidman nails Albert with a flying cross body and continues to attack Albert which distracts the ref long enough because as X-Pac is getting up using the ropes Rey Mysterio comes through the crowd and gets in the ring to hit X-Pac with the 619
– Kidman gets back up on the top as Rey gets out of the ring in time as Kidman hits the shooting star press and makes the pin to become the undisputed Cruiserweight Champion as Rey joins him in the ring as the reunited Flithy Animals stand tall in the ring

Backstage: Scott Steiner & Bischoff
– As Steiner prepares for his match, Bischoff tells him to take Jericho out
– Steiner says he will take Jericho out once and for all

The WWF’s Chris Jericho def. WCW’s “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner w/Eric Bischoff
– Jericho interferes and grabs Y2J’s ankle as he climbs to the top rope ready to fly down on Steiner, who’s on the outside
– Y2J kicks Bischoff off and jumps right into a Steinerline by Scott Steiner
– Back in the ring, Steiner goes for the cover but Jericho kicks out
– Jericho fights back and hits a top rope drop kick on Steiner but Bischoff distracts the ref
– Y2J walks over, pushes the ref out of the way and grabs Bischoff and tosses him into the ring
– Jericho grabs Bischoff by the legs and locks Bischoff in the Walls of Jericho as Bischoff is tapping out like crazy
– Steiner comes back and hits Jericho with a belly to belly suplex
– Steiner goes for the cover but Jericho kicks out
– Steiner goes for the Steiner Recliner but Jericho slides out the back before Steiner can fully lock it in as Jericho gets up and slingshots Steiner into the top turnbuckle
– Jericho follows with the Walls of Jericho and Steiner taps out
– Bischoff angirly goes backstage as Jericho celebrates his huge win at SummerSlam

Hardcore Title Ladder Match: WCW’s Rob Van Dam def. The WWF’s Jeff Hardy to retain the Hardcore title
– After a brutal match, Jeff goes for the Swanton, but RVD moves
– RVD then puts Hardy in the corner and goes for the Van Terminator, but Hardy grabs the chair and gets up and throws the chair into RVD’s face as he was coming down
– Hardy climbs the Ladder but RVD is back, climbs from the other side and suplexes Hardy off the ladder
– RVD starts to climb and now Jeff climbs the other side, jumps over RVD and powerbombs him off the ladder
– Jeff again climbs up and this time, RVD simply pulls the ladder away from under Jeff, who is left hanging at the belt
– RVD stand up another ladder and hits Jeff with a Flying Side Kick
– RVD climbs the ladder and is finally able to grab the Hardcore Title to retain it

Steel Cage Match: The Undertaker def. Raven
– Right after both men have entered the cage, Sara locks the door with a Steel chain
– Late in the match, Undertaker hits Raven with a chokeslam at which point Raven’s Flock runs down to the ring as Stevie Richards is chasing Sara
– Sara starts climbing the cage to get away from Richards
– Taker watches her and behind his back, Saturn hands Raven a singapore cane
– Raven still sells the chokeslam and Taker again signals for the Last Ride
– As he has him up in the air, Raven hits Taker in the head with the cane
– Raven tells Kanyon to unlock the cage door
– Raven then sees Sara on top of the cage and climbs after her
– Kane, still battered and bruised after what happened on Raw, slowly walks down to the ring with The APA in tow
– Sara sees Kane and climbs down towards him
– Raven also sees him and turns his attention to Taker again
– Kanyon, in the meanwhile has unlocked the door
– The APA start brawling with Saturn and Richards all the way backstage while Kanyon sees Kane approaching him and starts leaving through the crowd with Kane in pursuit
– Raven hits Taker with the evenflow DDT but Taker kicks out at 2 and a half
– Raven picks the cane back up but Taker is able to reach the chain and smacks Raven with it when Raven attempts to hit Taker with the cane
– Taker continues to pound Raven with the chain who is now busted open and then locks the door again
– Then Taker sees the singapore cane
– He grabs it and goes to hit Raven with it
– Raven however hits Taker with a low-blow and a evenflow DDT and starts to climb the cage again
– Taker sits back up and hits Raven with the Last ride for the win
– Sara gets in the ring and celebrates with her husband

Diamond Dallas Page def. Kurt Angle by DQ
– Late in the match, DDP hits Angle with a Diamond Cutter but Angle is able to kick out
– DDP is shocked
– DDP yells at referee Earl Hebner and then hits another Cutter on Angle but Angle can pull a foot out of the ring to stop the count
– DDP throws Angle out of the ring and bounces Angle head first into the steel steps
– DDP then bounces Angle’s head on the Announce table but Angle is able to put him in the Ankle Lock somehow
– Page gets to the ring post forcing Earl Hebner to start a 5 count as Angle lets go at about 4 and a half
– Page crawls back in the ring and Angle again puts on the Ankle lock
– Page can make it to the ropes
– Angle, a battered and beaten up man, is getting weaker and weaker and DDP strikes back with another Diamond Cutter
– But Angle still kicks out
– Page is stunned and starts to throw a tantrum
– Angle gets up and hits the Angle Slam on Page
– Page kicks out
– Page gets back up and nails referee Earl Hebner with a Diamond Cutter
– Mike Chioda runs down and gets hit with a Diamond Cutter
– Tim White is out next and he too gets knocked out by Page
– Angle hits another Angle Slam on Page – Out comes WCW Ref Nick Patrick
– Patrick starts the count and gets up to 2 but holds back on 3 as Angle looks pissed that Patrick did not count the 3
– Angle grabs Patrick and DDP low blows Angle as Patrick calls for the bell
– Nick Patrick informs Howard Finkel that he is disqulifying Kurt Angle for putting his hands on a official and awarding the match to Diamond Dallas Page
– The crowd is booing loudly as DDP is raising his arms proud of what has happened
– Patrick gets back in the ring and raises DDP’s arms but they do not know that Kurt Angle is getting back up to his feet
– DDP leaves the ring but then, Angle, out of nowhere, grabs Nick Patrick’s ankle and applies the Ankle lock
– Page decides to get the hell out of there not even thinking about saving Patrick
– Angle continues to have Patrick in the Ankle Lock and screams that he will break his freaking ankle until Angle finally lets go
– Angle ends up leaving the ring to a standing ovation with his music playing as J.R on commentary is telling Heyman that DDP can not beat Kurt Angle

WWF Championship Match: Sting def. Stone Cold Steve Austin to win the WWF Title
– Sting makes his entrance for this dream match but decides to wait outside the ring for Stone Cold
– Stone Cold’s music hits and he comes out and has a staredown with Sting from the entrance way as Austin takes off his vest and starts walking to the ring with a purpose and the two start to brawl as Austin starts taking it to Sting and starts to stomp a mudhole in his ass and walking it dry
– Late in the match Sting bounces Austin’s head off the ring post and Austin is busted wide open
– Sting brings Austin back in the ring and starts pounding away on Austin’s cut doing anything in his power to make Austin bleed more and to keep him down and Sting has Austin in the corner set up for the Stinger Splash
– Out of nowhere, Austin catches Sting coming in and hits him with his old Stun Gun move
– Austin starts to fight back
– Out of nowhere, Austin attempts the Stunner but Sting counters with the Scorpion Death Drop
– Sting goes for the cover but only gets a 2 count
– Sting is back to his feet and attacks Austin but out of nowhere, Austin hits the Stunner
– Austin attempts to get the pin, but the WCW World Tag Team Champions Sean O’Hare and Chuck Palumbo start to run down to the ring
– Austin sees them and when they both get on the apron Austin knocks both men off the apron with right hands
– Austin who is bloody mess then accidently as he is backing up hits Earl Hebner with the Stone Cold Stunner as he thought Hebner was Sting
– As Austin realizes who he stunnned, Sting grabs the baseball bat
– There is no ref
– Austin turns around and Sting whacks Austin in his braced right knee with the baseball bat
– Earl Hebner is still out cold so he can not see Sting using the bat
– Sting smashes Austin’s knee again with the baseball bat
– Hebner is still unable to see what the hell is going on as he is out cold from the Stunner
– Sting then whacks Austin right in the face with the baseball bat when he gets up before getting the bat out of the ring
– Sting locks Austin in the Scorpion Deathlock
– Eric Bischoff comes out to the ring with WCW Referee Charles Robinson in tow as Robinson gets in the ring but Earl Hebner is coming too seemingly signaling for the bell to ring
– Austin is not moving and Robinson stops the match and awards the match to Sting
– Sting has just beaten Steve Austin and is the new WWF champion as Bischoff grabs the title and awards it to Sting as Bischoff raises Sting’s arm in the air as they stand tall over a bloodied and beaten Stone Cold Steve Austin

WCW Championship Match: The Rock def. Booker T w/ Shane McMahon to win the WCW Title
– Booker pulls out all the stops and brings it to The Rock from the start
– Still, The Rock can hit Booker with a DDT but Shane grabs the WCW title belt and nails the Rock with it
– The Dudley Boyz runs down and chases Shane as Bubba catches up to Shane on his right side leading to The Dudleys hitting a 3D to Shane on the outside
– In the ring, Booker is able to hit the Book End but The Rock is able to kick out at 2 and a half
– The Rock gets up and avoids the axe kick and is able to hit the Spinebuster on Booker followed by the People’s Elbow
– But Shane is back up and interrupts the count
– Rock chases him to the outside and nails him with a Rock Bottom
– As Rock gets back in the ring, Booker nails him with the Axe kick
– Booker does the Spinaroonie which sends him right into a Rock Bottom
– Rock makes the cover and is the new WCW champion

  1. Good job on the Invasion fantasy booking! Just a question: Since you’re handling some angles differently, have you consider Chyna briefly return and drop the Women’s title? I notice Chyna seems to be phased out by this point like in the real Invasion since she last wrestle against Lita at KotR. Maybe Jazz can come in early, interfere in a match (like say post-match after a Chyna vs Stacy and Torrie handicap title match) and have a short feud to take the title off her to add another belt to Team WCW. Maybe a title vs career stipulation to write Chyna out and build Jazz strong from jump street.

    Just a suggestion. It’s your fantasy booking. You’re doing good with this nonetheless.
