WCW World Championship Match Booker T w/WCW Owner Shane McMahon (c) defends against The WWF’s The Rock

– The night after Invasion on Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon came out and cut a promo talking about how Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon have been one step ahead of him ever since WCW started this Invasion at Backlash. Vince says that now it is time for him to pull out a trump card of his own and that is he is going to reinstate The Rock, Vince invites The Rock next week to welcome him home to the WWF and uses his catchphrases and on Smackdown, Shane McMahon and Eric Bischoff come out cutting a promo about The Rock with Bischoff doing the talking with Bischoff saying he will be at Raw monday night and he will do something that he is a expert at doing and that is luring the biggest names over to WCW and he is going to add The Rock’s name to that list of superstars that abanded the WWF and joined the real true dominant power in sports entertainment and that is WCW and as Bischoff was talking about The Rock it seemed to visibly annoy Booker T.

– The following week on Raw, Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff came out to the ring near the end of Raw as The Rock came out making his first TV appearence since the night after WrestleMania 17 as Vince would cut a promo telling The Rock that he made a mistake the night after WrestleMania saying that perhaps he should have given him his championship rematch against Stone Cold. Vince also states that over the last year they have been way more lows then highs cause there has not been any but Vince talks about how he and The Rock have had good times like at Survivor Series in 1998 when Vince says that it was because of him that The Rock won the Deadly Game tournament and became the WWF Champion and that he now hopes that he and The Rock can put the past to bed and start over a clean slate so that he can welcome The Rock back to the WWF and to kick the living hell out of WCW once and for all.

– Eric would then cut a promo telling The Rock that Vince made a compelling argument but Eric tells The Rock the greatest time he thinks Vince and The Rock was when Vince and Stone Cold screwed him out of the WWF Title at WrestleMania. Eric also brings up that when The Rock first came into the WWF, it was Vince that made him come out and be all smiley and act like he was happy to be there yet these same people who The Rock is now called “The People’s Champion” booed him out of the building and they chanted “Rocky Sucks” and they changed the channel over to WCW Monday Nitro and start cheering the real People’s Champion, Diamond Dallas Page. Bischoff then says it is time for The Rock to move on from the WWF and join the real winning team…WCW. Vince and Bischoff then get into a argument until suddenly The Rock hits Vince McMahon with The Rock Bottom. Bischoff has a huge smile on his face as he and The Rock shake hands until The Rock pulls Bischoff in and hits Bischoff with the Rock Bottom and then hits The Peoples Elbow to Bischoff as The Rock gets on the mic and says “Finally The Rock Has Come Back…To The WWF” as Raw ends with The Rock doing his signature pose with both Vince and Bischoff laid out.

– On Smackdown, The Rock would cut and cut a promo about siding with the WWF talking about how he was born and raised in the WWF and that it was the people that made The Rock but then Booker T who regained the WCW World Title (will be explained in another part of build) came out to interrupt The Rock as The Rock did the signature line “who in the blue hell are you?” and as Booker went to respond Rock came back with the “It doesen’t matter what your name is”. Booker then cut a promo telling The Rock exactly who he is and that is the WCW World Champion Booker T, Booker then tells The Rock he is the guy that has done something that The Rock has never done and that is pin Stone Cold Steve Austin not once but twice which did draw a eyebrow raise from The Rock which seemed to strike a cord with The Rock. Booker then issues a challenge to The Rock for SummerSlam. The Rock then tells Booker not to wait to SummerSlam and to just “Bring it” right now which led to Shane McMahon coming out and telling The Rock that he saw what he did to Eric Bischoff as Shane would say that since The Rock does not respect Booker, Bischoff or WCW for that matter then he wants to teach him respect one on one on Raw in a Street Fight which led to The Rock accepting Shane’s challenge for Raw.

On Monday Night Raw, The Rock ends up defeating Shane McMahon in the Street Fight despite the interference of Booker T. But after the match Booker T and Shane beat down The Rock and Booker T ends up hitting The Rock with the Book-End through the announce table as Booker stands tall over The Rock to end Raw. On Smackdown, Booker T and Shane came out cutting a promo on The Rock with Booker doing the talking about the ass whooping he laid down on The Rock on Raw and that he is still waiting for The Rock to accept his challenge for SummerSlam. The Rock ended up coming out and accepted Booker’s challenge and mocked Booker’s haircut as The Rock said he would walk into SummerSlam as the one true “People’s Champion” and walk out of SummerSlam the one true “People’s WCW Champion” as Booker called The Rock out to come and fight him right then and there as The Rock came down to the ring but grabbed a steel chair before getting in the ring as Booker and Shane got the upper hand at first but The Rock fought back and hit Booker with a spinebuster on the steel chair and went for the People’s Elbow but Shane ends up pulling The Rock out of the ring allowing Booker to escape but The Rock fights off Shane and The Rock hits Shane with the Rock Bottom through the announce table to send a message to Booker T for SummerSlam. Later in the night Booker defended the WCW Title against The Undertaker as the match ended in DQ when Booker laid out Taker with a Steel Chair as The Rock came out and hit Booker with a Rock Bottom

– On the final Raw before SummerSlam, The Rock came out during a promo with Chris Jericho mocking Eric Bischoff, Scott Stiener and Booker T who had interrupted Jericho as The Rock joined in on making fun of Bischoff and Booker leading to Bischoff challenging Rock and Jericho to face Steiner and Booker later on in the night. Later in the night during the tag team match Bischoff ended up costing Jericho and Rock the match when Bischoff came in and hit Jericho in the back with a Steel Chair when Jericho had Steiner in the Walls of Jericho leading to Steiner pinning Jericho for the victory and after the match The Rock attempted to fight off Steiner and Booker and was getting the upper hand until Shane came in but The Rock took Shane out before Booker attacked The Rock and hit The Rock with a Book-End. Booker ended up picking up The Rock hitting a 2nd Book-End before Shane grabbed a Steel Chair and wanted Booker to do it again as Booker ended up picking The Rock up and hit a 3rd Book-End this time on a Steel Chair as Shane/Booker/Bischoff/Steiner stood tall over Rock and Jericho.

– On the final Smackdown before SummerSlam, Booker T and Shane opened up the show as Booker T cut a promo bragging about what he did to The Rock on Raw and even imitating The Rock’s catchphrases leading to The Rock coming out cutting a promo about SummerSlam and how he was going to win the WCW Title and Shane would take over the talking and ends up challenging The Rock to a Lights Out Match to get revenge for The Rock putting him through the announce table with The Rock Bottom last week which The Rock agreed too. The Rock and Shane later in the night would have the match with the lights turned off and there being a lone spotlight on The Rock and Shane fighting as toward the end at ringside near the announce table Booker ends up hitting The Rock with a Steel Chair knocking The Rock onto the announce table as Shane went to the top rope and hit the leap of faith elbow drop through the announce table as Shane ends up pinning The Rock as Smackdown ends up with Booker T and Shane standing tall in the ring to end the last Smackdown before SummerSlam.

WWF Championship Match Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) defends against Sting

– The Night after Invasion on Monday Night Raw, WCW Owner Shane McMahon and WCW President Eric Bischoff came out and Bischoff cut a promo doing the talking as they bragged about WCW’s victory over the WWF at Invasion and boasted that it could not of been possible without one man and Bischoff introduces Sting. Sting ends up making his entrance as Sting would grab a mic and Sting would cut a promo about being WCW’s franchise player and how he has stayed with WCW through thick and thin even when WCW brought in Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage he stayed and carried the WCW flag on his back. Sting then brings up the reason why he cost Team WWF at Invasion was because during the Monday Night Wars he blames one man for destroying the traditions that wrestling had established and that one man is Stone Cold Steve Austin. Sting says that Austin has been destorying what wrestling was and now wrestling is nothing but a shell of what it used to be because of Stone Cold and the WWF as Sting says that he is going to restore those traditions and he is going to start by taking the WWF’s most prized possession the WWF Championship. The glass then shattered as Stone Cold’s music hit as Austin made his way down to the ring but was attacked by the WCW World Tag Team Champions Sean O’Hare and Chuck Palumbo on the entrance way as Sting stood in the ring as Bischoff/Shane cleared out as Austin ended up fighting off O’Hare and Palumbo as Austin ran into the ring and went to attack Sting but the lights went out and when they came back on Sting was gone as Austin was in the ring left alone looking pissed off that Sting had escaped.

– On Smackdown, Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and cut a promo about Sting and what happened at Invasion as Austin ends up doing a very rare scenario as Austin the champion challenges Sting to a match at SummerSlam for the WWF Championship as Austin explains that he wants to beat the hell and wipe the face paint off of Sting’s face and stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry as the lights went out and then Sting appeared on the titantron as a lone spotlight was on Austin in the arena as Sting was standing in a graveyard as Sting cuts a promo explaining that the reason he was standing in the graveyard was that it was a fitting place for all of the traditions that Austin and the WWF destoryed in the Monday Night Wars. Sting goes on to say that he accepts Austin’s SummerSlam challenge as Sting would go on to say that after SummerSlam he can add one more tombstone to the graveyard of wrestling as the camera pans out to see Sting standing at a open grave with the tombstone reading “R.I.P Austin 3:16” as Austin got pissed and left the ring.

– The following week on Raw, Stone Cold Steve Austin opens up Raw cutting a promo calling out Sting not for a wrestling match but for a fight because he wants to whip Sting’s black and white face-painted ass as WCW Owner Shane McMahon comes out and cuts a promo telling Austin that he does not need to worry about fighting Sting because he can do that at SummerSlam because tonight Shane announced that he was putting Austin in a special 2 on 1 Handicap Match against the two men that Austin assualted the week before and that was the WCW World Tag Team Champions Sean O’Hare and Chuck Palumbo. Later in the night Austin ends up defeating O’Hare and Palumbo in the Handicap Match after pinning Palumbo after a Stone Cold Stunner but after the match O’Hare attempted to attack Austin but as Austin and O’Hare fought. Sting was coming down the rampway and Sting gets in the ring as Austin ends up hitting O’Hare with the Stunner but when Austin gets up and turns around. Sting like at Invasion hits Austin right in the head with the baseball bat as Sting leaves the ring and ends up exposing the concrete floor on the outside before getting back in the ring and throwing Austin to the outside as Sting ends up hitting Austin with a Scorpion Death Drop on the exposed concrete floor as Sting ended up leaving through the crowd as EMT’s checked on a unconsious Stone Cold Steve Austin. Later that week on Smackdown, Sting came out and cut a promo about SummerSlam saying that he was going to do exactly what he says he is going to do and bring the WWF Championship over to WCW and begin to restore the traditions that Stone Cold and the WWF has destoryed

– On Raw, WWF Commissioner William Regal barged into Shane McMahon and Eric Bischoff’s office and informed them that Sting would have his first official WWF match on Raw against Kurt Angle and if Angle won then he would take Sting’s number 1 contendership and face Stone Cold at SummerSlam to the dismay of Shane and Bischoff. Later in the night Sting ends up defeating Kurt Angle to retain the number 1 contendership with the help of DDP but as Angle chased DDP backstage and Sting stood in the ring all alone. The glass shattered as Stone Cold sprinted out to the ring and started a brawl with Sting as Austin ended up getting the upper hand as Austin threw Sting out of the ring and would do the same thing that Sting did the week prior by taking the padding off and exposing the concrete floor as Austin though went to piledrive Sting on the floor but was stopped by Mike Awesome who attacked Austin from behind. Sting ends up escaping but Austin fights Awesome off and gets him in the ring as Austin lays Mike Awesome out with the Stone Cold Stunner. Later that week on Smackdown, Stone Cold faced Mike Awesome in a non title match as Austin defeated Awesome with the Stunner but after the match Austin saw Sting standing in the crowd toward the exit as Austin left the ring and went in the crowd and went up to chase Sting but when Austin got to the top of the stairs Sting was no longer there as Smackdown ended with Austin pissed off that Sting escaped again.

– On the final Raw before SummerSlam, Sting cut another promo in a graveyard at the “R.I.P Austin 3:16” Tombstone and open grave cutting a promo about how SummerSlam would be the end of Austin 3:16 as a crow ends up landing on top of the tombstone as Sting ends up challenging Austin to meet him in the graveyard as Austin was watching back at the arena as Austin ended up leaving the arena. Later in the night at the graveyard Stone Cold ends up driving his pick-up truck to the graveyard looking for Sting as Austin ends up finding Sting and beats him down but it turns out to be a fake Sting as Sting ends up attacking Austin from behind as the two brawled and Austin got the upper hand until Sting throws dirt in Austin’s face as Sting then grabs the baseball bat and whacks Austin in the head with the bat knocking him into the grave as Raw ended with Sting leaving the graveyard and Austin out cold in the open grave. Later that week on Smackdown, Sting came out and cut a promo about what happened on Raw as Sting said that at SummerSlam if Stone Cold can dig himself out of that grave he hopes Austin shows up so he can take his and the WWF’s most prized possession away from him and that’s the WWF Championship but then Austin’s music hits as Austin drove his pick-up truck out to the ring as Austin got out of the truck and ran into the ring as Austin and Sting brawled again as Austin was getting the upper hand until WCW wrestlers Chavo Guerrero, Hugh Morris and the WCW World Tag Team Champions come out and are able to get Sting the hell out of the ring as Austin gave Sting and the other WCW wrestlers the double bird as Austin holds up the WWF Championship

Steel Cage Match The Undertaker vs Raven

– The night after Invasion on Raw, The Undertaker faced Saturn and Saturn defeats Taker by count out when Raven comes to the ring and starts chasing Sara leading to Taker chasing after Raven through the crowd as the two ended up brawling and brawl back to the ring as Taker grabbed a Steel Chair and went to hit Raven but Raven pulls Sara in front of the chair shot leading to Taker hitting Sara in the face with the Steel Chair as Raven escapes with the help of Kanyon, Saturn and Stevie Richards as Taker is checking on Sara. Later that week on Smackdown, Raven faced Kane and Kane laid out Raven with a Steel Chair causing a DQ leading to Kane hitting WCW Official Nick Patrick with a chokeslam but then Raven’s Flock of Kanyon, Saturn and Richards come out and help Raven beat down Kane as Raven lays out Kane with a Chair Shot but Kane sits up as The Flock bails the hell out of the ring.

– The following week on Raw, The Undertaker and Kane faced Saturn and Kanyon as The B-O-D won by DQ thanks to Raven coming in and low blowing Taker as Stevie Richards ended up grabbing Sara but Taker saved her as Taker and Kane hit a double chokeslam to Richards as Raven ran away as Raven stood on top of the ramp with a sick sadastic smirk on his face and on Smackdown we see that Raven has a shrine of Sara as Raven is talking about how he has already stolen one man’s wife and that just like he did in ECW he is going to do the exact same thing to The Undertaker.

– On Raw, We see Raven’s shrine to Sara again with Raven saying “I need my Sara…quoth the Raven nevermore”. Taker and Sara arrive later in the night with Kane telling Taker about the shrine that Raven has for Sara with Taker saying he needs to end this once and for all. Later in the night Taker finds the shrine and ends up destorying the shine before seeing a shadow who is laughing as the shadow jumps out and Taker starts attacking but it’s not Raven as it is instead Saturn as Raven, Kanyon and Richards end up attacking Taker and beating him down until Kane comes in as Raven’s Flock ends up running away. Later that week on Smackdown, Raven and Saturn defeat The APA with the help of Kanyon and Stevie Richards and in a backstage segment WWF Commissioner William Regal informs Raven’s flock that he has made a match between The Undertaker and Raven for SummerSlam inside of a Steel Cage.

Later that week on Smackdown, The Undertaker in a backstage interview explains that at SummerSlam he is going to make Raven famous as being the son of the bitch who stalked his wife and got the hell beaten out of him and left a bloody carcus because there will be no place to hide at SummerSlam in the Steel Cage

Kurt Angle vs Diamond Dallas Page

– On the Monday Night Raw following Invasion, Kurt Angle faced “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and late in the match referee Earl Hebner got knocked out and Angle hit the Angle Slam but WCW Official Nick Patrick would not make the count as Angle then locked Patrick in the Ankle Lock but DDP snuk into the ring and hit Angle with the Diamond Cutter as Steiner got on top of Angle for the cover to get the victory as The APA and The Dudleys came out to chase off Steiner and DDP. On Smackdown later that week Kurt Angle interrupted Eric Bischoff and Shane McMahon’s promo when Eric/Shane were in the ring with the WCW roster as Angle challenged Booker T to a WCW Championship match later in the night which Booker agrees to by saying “I’ma prove i am a bigger star then The Rock by whooping your punk ass tonight“. In the main event Angle had Booker T locked in the Ankle Lock but the ref was knocked out distracted by Shane McMahon which led to DDP sneaking in the ring and hitting Angle with the Diamond Cutter but Angle still kicked out as Angle ended up locking the Ankle Lock once again on Booker and made Booker tap out as Smackdown ended with Kurt Angle holding up the WCW Championship to the shock of Shane McMahon and DDP.

– The following week on Raw, Kurt Angle and Booker T would have a rematch for the WCW Championship and this time Shane McMahon made it a No DQ match as Angle had Booker beat with the Angle Slam but the ref was knocked out as DDP came out and hit Angle with the Diamond Cutter which allowed Booker to pin Angle and regain the WCW Championship. Later that week on Smackdown, Kurt Angle came out and talks about what happened on Raw and talks about losing the WCW Title as Angle says he ain’t going to get all mad and angry and throw a temper tantrum like he’s used to doing but instead he wants to challenge DDP to a match for SummerSlam. DDP ends up interrupting and accepts Angle’s challenge before he brings out Angle’s opponent which would be revealed to be the now former WCW Cruiserweight Champion “Hollywood” Gregory Helms. Angle ends up defeating Helms by escaping the vertabreaker and hitting the Angle Slam to get the victory to the dismay of DDP.

Later that week on Smackdown, DDP and The Impact Players faced Angle and The Dudley Boys as DDP and The Impact Players won by DQ due to Angle not letting go of the Ankle Lock but then WCW’s newest member Test comes out and hits Angle in the back with a Steel Chair. DDP ends up getting up and starts to beat down Angle as he hits Angle with a Diamond Cutter and Page then leaves the ring and takes the padding off exposing the concrete floor as DDP pulls Angle out of the ring and hits a Diamond Cutter on the concrete floor as Angle ends up getting put on a stretcher but as they are wheeling him up the ramp. Chris Jericho vs “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner w/Eric Bischoff

– On the Raw the week after Invasion, Eric Bischoff cut a promo about how that night was going to be a historic night for WCW with Booker T winning back the WCW World Championship from Kurt Angle and The Rock joining WCW. Chris Jericho interrupts Bischoff telling him that he is sick and tired of hearing Eric’s voice and Jericho points that WCW is known for a history and that is a history of screwing up and squandering great opportunties such as instead of trying to prove Chris Jericho could make money for WCW he let him leave and go to the WWF, Jericho ends up defeating Chavo Guerrero to the dismay of Eric Bischoff. Later that week on Smackdown, Jericho and E&C mock Bischoff in a backstage segment and later that night in a tag team match between Jericho, E&C vs The Impact Players and Mike Awesome. – The following week on Raw, Chris Jericho called out Scott Stiener for costing him his match on Smackdown but Eric Bischoff ends up coming out and telling Jericho that Steiner was not at the building but as Bischoff was talking the distraction allowed Scott Steiner to come up from behind Jericho and whack him again with the Led Pipe as Steiner ends up beating down Jericho with the pipe before officials come out and stop Steiner from inflicting further damage. Later that week on Smackdown, Chris Jericho with his ribs all taped up defeated Shawn Stasiak with the Walls of Jericho but after the match as Jericho was walking up the ramp he is attacked by Steiner again with the led pipe as Steiner ends up throwing Jericho through the Smackdown screen. In a backstage segment after that Bischoff is very impressed by what Steiner did as Steiner tells Bischoff to give him a match with Jericho at SummerSlam to finish him off which Bischoff grants Steiner as Bischoff even tells Steiner he will be at ringside to watch Steiner beat the “overrated wanna-be” Chris Jericho.

-On the final Raw before SummerSlam, Eric Bischoff and Scott Steiner make there entrance as Bischoff cuts a promo about Jericho’s time in WCW calling him nothing more then a “mid-card comedy act” as Bischoff goes on to say Jericho would of had no chance in hell lasting in the main event scene let alone lasting in the ring with Scott Steiner had he stayed in WCW as Steiner proved that when he threw him through the screen on Smackdown. Bischoff reiterates that he will be at ringside to watch Scott Steiner destroy Chris Jericho once and for all leading to Jericho coming out. Jericho starts to mock Bischoff leading to Steiner interrupting Jericho telling him “I’ve made you my bitch for the last 2 weeks and i’ll make you my bitch again if you keep that shit up”. Booker T ends up coming out which leads to The Rock coming out as Jericho and Rock trash talk Booker, Steiner and Bischoff before Bischoff challenges Jericho and Rock to face Steiner and Booker later on in the night. In the main event Bischoff cost Jericho the match when he had Steiner locked in the Walls of Jericho as Bischoff whacked Jericho in the back with a chair leading to Steiner pinning Jericho to get the victory.
