Rumored Date Of The 2016 WWE Draft

2016 WWE Draft details. 

As you likely have heard by now, the WWE is undergoing some huge changes in the next couple months. The company announced that not only is Smackdown switching from a taped to a live show, but we will be getting a WWE Brand Split. The last WWE brand split ended in 2011 and both RAW and Smackdown have been mixed ever since. To split the brands, we are going to need a draft and it sounds like we have a rumored date that it will take place!

According to Brian Alvarez on the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Live, the rumored date of the 2016 WWE draft is July 11th on RAW. This makes sense considering the WWE announced Smackdown was going live the next week (July 19th). Their report notes that things can change but this is the day they are targeting.

I really thought the WWE would make use of the WWE Network and do some sort of 2016 WWE draft network special. They still can change their minds and I hope they do.

I am a big fan of watching drafts in professional sports and I will really enjoy watching the WWE version. I think they could take a page out of professional sports and have Stephanie/ Shane each come to the podium to announce their selections. Give the draft the professional sports feel and it might be a good fit.
