The Kalisto Injury occurred after his match on RAW at the hands of Rusev.
After Kalisto’s match on RAW against Alberto Del Rio, he was attacked by Rusev. Rusev put Kalisto into the Accolade submission and looked like he almost snapped him in half. The WWE announced on their website that Kalisto is injured and he will not be wrestling at Tuesday’s Smackdown taping. This injury sounds like it’s a work as it mentions at the end of the article that he will still be competing at Extreme Rules this Sunday.
Here is what their report said:
“Due to injuries sustained at the hands of Rusev on Raw, United States Champion Kalisto is unable to compete on this week’s SmackDown, WWE.com has learned. WWE medical staff confirmed that Kalisto suffered a strained intercostal muscle and erectus spinae muscle, attributed to Rusev’s Accolade submission maneuver. Despite his injuries, Kalisto is still planning on defending his U.S. Title against The Super Athlete this Sunday at Extreme Rules” (Source: WWE.com).
Almost certain this is a work to try and get more attention on their match at Extreme Rules. The WWE will likely push the underdog angle on Kalisto against the much bigger Rusev. Looking forward to the match and how the storyline develops.
