Clarification On The Rules Of The Asylum Match at WWE Extreme Rules

Jericho AmbroseChris Jericho vs Dean Ambrose in an Asylum Match at Extreme Rules. Here are the rules.

Many fans were confused about the rules of the ‘Asylum Match’ announced between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho at WWE Extreme Rules. Many weapons were suspended above a traditional steel cage on RAW and we didn’t get much clarification. The WWE has clarified the rules of the match on their Extreme Rules preview:

“Still, even by the standards of the extreme, this Asylum Match is a nightmare: The bout is, in essence, a Steel Cage Match, but with various weapons suspended above the structure that encases the dueling Superstars. The “escape the cage” stipulation is also off the table; the only way to win the Asylum Match is to pin opponent or make him submit” (Source: WWE.com).

So essentially just a steel cage match that has to end in pinfall/submission. The weapons on the top of the cage can be used at either of their discretion to add a bit of flair to it!

  1. I agree with B2thaQ. Extreme Rules needs to go. TLC is a good enough PPV with most matches being involved with weapons. I hope nobody gets injured on Sunday night.

  2. Just hope this match is just that–Extreme! Don’t repeat the watered down version like the match between Dean and Lesnar where nothing more than a Kendo stick was used. Extreme means weapons. Let Ambrose use them all!
