Kevin Owens Sportscenter.
Here are the highlights from Kevin Owens appearance on ESPN’s Sportscenter on Tuesday night:
- Talks about wrestling his first match at the age of 16 on his birthday. Wrestling last week on his birthday things came full circle for him. WrestleMania 11 was when he decided he wanted to be a wrestler. Started training at the age of 14, gave up all other sports. He started training in a barn and the barn collapsed but no one was hurt.
- WrestleMania 32 blew his expectations. He was not prepared for that moment even though he imagined it 1000’s of time in his head. Being part of the biggest WrestleMania off all-time was special. He will always remember it. It was incredible night but he is looking forward to topping it. Wants to top it over the next couple of years.
- He says when started training he was only 150 pounds. His first favourite wrestler growing up was Shawn Michaels because he was a smaller guy but he was the best on the show. Says he could relate to him when he was smaller. Now that he has gotten older and packed on some weight he never stopped doing all those moves that he could do when we was smaller. He is 266 pounds now and can still do high flying moves that other guys his size can’t.
- He says he really enjoyed NXT and it was an amazing experience. He went from wrestling in church basements to this incredible facility at the WWE Performance Center. It prepares you for the main roster.
- He says he didn’t feel pressure facing John Cena on RAW for his debut, he felt confident. He felt like he belonged.
- He talks about the twitter trolls. He says some people feel like they can say whatever they want and their accounts give them power and the right to be disrespectful. He says he is not going to sit back and take people’s crap. He says he gets a big kick out of responding. If you come at him and it catches his eye, chances are he is going to come back at you.
