WWE Releases Rich Brennan, His Wife Rips the WWE and Tom Phillips

News broke yesterday that commentator and backstage interviewer Rich Brennan has been released from the WWE. You might recognize Rich from various backstage segments with NXT and the WWE. He also commentated Smackdown briefly before Mauro Ranallo signed with the WWE. Brennan (real name Rich Bocchini deleted his WWE Twitter account and tweeted out on his old account that he was ready for a new adventure.

Here was the tweet:

It appears that this wife was not very happy with his dismissal. Throwing some serious shade at WWE commentator Tom Phillips. She deleted the tweet but it we have a screenshot of what she said:
rich brennanHarsh words from the wife of Rich Brennan towards Tom Phillips. I can understand her frustrations as there are likely plenty of backstage politics that go on backstage of the WWE. She also posted what looks to be a subtweet towards the WWE, claiming that big companies don’t have souls:

I was actually a big fan of Rich Brennan and wish him the best. I thought he was entertaining as a backstage guy and when he would commentate. I think he has a future in the wrestling business anywhere he chooses to head next!

Hard to speculate with only one side of the story but it sounds like Tom Phillips played a role in getting Brennan released from the WWE. We will update when we know more!

  1. WWE is a dog-eat-dog world. Thats how most(all) business’ are. I just hope he saved or invested some of that good money he was making. His wife needs to take the high road tho’. It all depends on what type of wife she is to him. Does she has a college degree and maintain a stable career, or was she just a stay-at-home wife who needed the finer things in life and just spend his fortune? Im not sure but she could be salty for him actually getting fired, or him not bringing home that good WWE money for her to spend.

    • I actually met his wife at an NXT show once when she helped watch my son while I moved my car that was about to be towed. I didn’t even know who she was but she saw that he wanted to keep watching the show and she was so sweet. So I was surprised to see this also. But I’m still forever grateful to her!

  2. I’m LITERALLY watching Main Event on Hulu and listening to Brennan’s commentary when this story pops up on my TL. So surreal. I’ll wish him the best in whatever he does next.
