John Cena Prefers The WWE NOT Being PG, Why He Misses Blood In Wrestling

John Cena is loved by many children around the world and is a company man through and through. You would think because of this, he would want to keep the WWE as a PG rated product oriented towards the kids that love him. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cena admitted that he would prefer the WWE product be geared towards an older audience and that he misses blood in wrestling. A lot of people dislike John Cena the character on WWE TV, but I find John Cena the person to be so damn likable.

John Cena talks about preferring the WWE not be rated PG and why he misses blood in wrestling:

“I’m a 38-year-old man. I’d much rather it be a program geared toward me, whether that’s TV-14 or sometimes even more graphic than that, which is what I like. For one thing, profanity brought fire out of people with personalities that backed the language. It’s very difficult to say, ‘Oh, you’re being poopy,’ especially when they’re meant to be fighting words. And now, if someone starts to bleed, the referee intervenes to stop the bleeding. But before, you’d just let it fly. Blood is one of the things that made fights cool. Like, you knew it had gotten serious. I understand why we don’t do it anymore. Vince has been a coach to me, a father figure, a boss and a friend, and his goal and my goal are the same: to make the company be as big as it can be. But, yeah, the blood is one thing I miss” (Source: Rolling Stone).

I think if it was up to John Cena he would have turned heel years ago. He makes so much money for the WWE on merchandise that Vince McMahon loves his character and the PG rating. I hope to see a day where John Cena turns heel in epic fashion and finally lashes out on all the fans who have booed him throughout the years.

Let us know your thoughts on John Cena’s comments. Also chime in anything you want on the WWE’s PG rating.

  1. Sure I wouldnt mind more blood. It really does make the fights more “serious”

….i also have a 5 yr. old son that watches wrestling and I really enjoy the PG rating for him. I dont want him to watch bra & panties matches that I used to watch as a kid.
