It was clear watching WWE RAW on Monday night that something was different about the show but in a good way. It didn’t feel like the same programming that we get week to week with similar matches. It felt fresh and the match ups were new and exciting. Shane McMahon started off RAW by listing off a number of great matches like Kevin Owens vs Cesaro and AJ Styles vs Sami Zayn that got the crowd excited. It seems like the WWE is focusing on pushing new stars instead of relying all of their storylines on their part-time guys. Legendary commentator Jim Ross on his blog spoke about the new change of direction that WWE TV is going in and them pushing newer stars.
Here is what he said:
“This RAW felt ‘fresher’ than recent Monday nights. Seeing a different grouping of talents in the money segments that include the opening, at the top of each hour and the close of the show, indicates to me that WWE is looking at getting new talents more established at the top of their cards. Smart strategy as one can never plan for injuries and today’s style often times leads to more medical issues than, seemingly, in the past” (Source: JrsBarBQ.com)
IWNerd: Completely agree with Jim Ross here. I loved RAW last night and was very happy they are pushing some very talented guys. Even the Roman Reigns segment where he teamed up with Bray Wyatt against Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio felt fresh and decently fun. I really hope the WWE continues down this path moving forward. I also hope Shane McMahon sticks around for the time being as the Authority not being involved every week has been fun to watch!
