Sting Comments On Losing To Triple H At WrestleMania 31

Sting lost to Triple H at WrestleMania 31 last year in his WrestleMania debut. Now that Sting has officially retired from the WWE, fans are still upset he lost the match. Many fans thought Sting should have won against Triple H and the outcome didn’t make sense. Fans think Vince McMahon chose this outcome in order to further show off the WWE’s dominance over WCW by having his WWE guy defeat the WCW legend. In a recent Sports Illustrated interview, Sting looked back on WrestleMania 31 says that he was just happy to have his WrestleMania moment.

Here is what he said:

“People took the loss personally, but in this business, you have to learn real quick not to take anything that personally. For me, it was a memory just being in Levi Stadium in California, my home state, with that crowd there.” (Source: Sports Illustrated).

He went on further:

“There was so much nostalgia with having DX and the NWO all together at WrestleMania. I can’t tell you how many pictures I’ve signed of all of us in the ring. Fans talked about that and loved it.” (Source: Sports Illustrated).

IWNerd Perspective: I personally thought Sting should have won the match as it really served no purpose for Triple H winning. I agree with Sting though that it was still a great moment he will have for the rest of his life so I can’t really be too upset about it. I really enjoyed seeing DX and NWO in the ring for a nice throwback to the Attitude Era. It is a shame that Sting was forced to retire due to injuries as I would have loved to see him in the ring for one more match before hanging up the boots.

A year later, let us know your thoughts on Sting losing to Triple H.
