9 Dream Matches For Shawn Michaels At Wrestlemania 35

6) Shawn Michaels vs Finn Balor

Shawn Michaels seems to be a big fan of Finn Balor. In a 2018 interview, Michaels named both Balor and Kevin Owens as guys who are some of his current favorites on the WWE roster. Michaels also picked both Balor and Owens as two guys he would put in a D-Generation X 2.0 faction.  He also says that:

“Finn Balor and Kevin Owens are just special wrestlers. They are brilliant in the ring”

This isn’t the first time that Michaels has mentioned Balor as someone who he would like to face. Michaels has named Balor in a few different interviews after being asked about dream opponents.

Balor vs Michaels sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I am not sure how they would build the storyline around it but it would make for one heck of an in-ring clash in my opinion.

5) Shawn Michaels vs Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe might not be a name that immediately pops into your mind when it comes to dream opponents for Shawn Michaels. It turns out that if it was up to Shawn, he would love to face someone like Samoa Joe.

Here is what Shawn said in an interview with ESPN last year about a potential match against Samoa Joe:

“I look at Samoa Joe and I’ve told him a number of times that I see his stuff at NXT and think to myself, ‘Man, I could have a great deal of fun with you’. He’s a guy I have sort of enjoyed, and one of those sleeper guys that no one talks about.

“We have contrasting styles. I get that everybody wants to see me and AJ or Seth or Dolph [Ziggler]. From my standpoint, I think really telling a great story out there [is most important]. I could do it with a guy like Samoa Joe. His stuff looks really good, and sometimes he just looks like he’s beating the tar out of somebody.”

Michaels vs Joe sounds good to me. Would be an awesome rub for Joe to get that kind of match at Wrestlemania.

4) Shawn Michaels vs Braun Strowman

Keeping what Shawn Michaels said about Samoa Joe in mind, I think another good option would be Braun Strowman vs Shawn. It is pretty safe to say that Strowman and Michaels have contrasting styles and I think they might work well with one another.

Michaels has named Braun as someone who he would like to face in interviews. Here is one quote from Michaels’ interview with the Mirror:

“Honestly, my answer is always ‘gosh, most of them’. Because there are so many. Being there for so long, I had a match with just about everybody. Now I go and it’s nothing but new and fresh faces. And different styles. You can’t help but think ‘I could do that with this guy and this with that guy’. For me, it’s most everybody because it’s 100% variety. In the eyes of a WWE fan this would be fresh and new because it’s absolutely nothing they have seen before.

That was very hard to come by when you were there for a long time. You have to step away for a long time and have that whole deck reshuffled. It’s been almost 10 years since I retired. I’m not trying to dodge the question ha ha. There is just a litany of guys. I can go from Braun Strowman to Finn Balor and then you think about all the different guys between”

If Braun isn’t holding the Universal Championship heading into Wrestlemania 35, a match with Shawn Michaels could be a fun option.
