3) Kevin Owens Wins The WWE Championship
Here is something that is off the board. Kevin Owens walks out of Summerslam with the WWE Championship. You are reading that correctly, the WWE Championship and not the WWE Universal Championship.
Instead of cashing in for the Universal Championship, I have seen several people and websites suggest that Owens could actually cash-in during the match between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. The idea would be that Owens wants to get the hell off the same brand as Braun Strowman after he wins the briefcase from him. To do that, he cashes in for the WWE Championship and changes shows.
This would be a pretty major swerve if it happens.
2) Paul Heyman Double-Crosses Lesnar, Helps Roman Reigns
There has been plenty of talk over the past few weeks about the possibility of Paul Heyman teaming up with a new client. WWE has even been teasing this on Monday Night RAW over the past few weeks.
A theory making the rounds is that Heyman will double-cross Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. This would lead to Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship and becoming Paul’s next client.
I think a lot of fans would like to see a Heyman-Reigns pairing but it is unclear if WWE will go this route. This would be a pretty fun swerve to close Summerslam though.
1) Brock Lesnar Retains The WWE Universal Championship
As we head into Summerslam, the heavy speculation is that this will be the place where Brock Lesnar finally drops the Universal Championship. Brock has held the Title for a year and a half, with only a few Title defenses. It looks like he is also heading to the UFC in a few months. The smart money seems to be on Brock dropping the belt.
A major surprise that could happen is Brock retaining the Title at Summerslam. The idea would be WWE and UFC worked out some sort of deal with one another. Brock would have the chance to hold both the WWE Universal Championship and the UFC Heavyweight Championship. This might be an offer that is too good to pass up for Vince McMahon and the additional eyeballs that it could help get on the WWE product. Just imagine if Brock was promoting his fight while wearing the WWE Universal Championship around his arm.
Brock retaining her would be the biggest swerve of them all. That means several more months of the Universal Title rarely being on RAW. It would also piss off a lot of fans. Sounds like something that Vince McMahon would do.
