Here is what we think will happen over the next few months in the WWE Universal Championship picture. This includes plans for Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and more. A reminder that this is only my opinion. Note: You can check out our booking steps for the WWE Championship picture here.
Step 1) Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship (CONFIRMED)
– WWE Crown Jewel
This big triple threat match has been confirmed for the WWE Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. This will be the next time that Roman Reigns defends his WWE Universal Championship.
I think that Reigns is going to retain the Title. The interesting part will be that some major seeds will be planted for a future Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman match. I think that Strowman and Lesnar will kick the crap out of one another, which will allow for Roman to win.
Result: Roman retains the Title. Seeds are planted for a future Brock vs Braun match.
Step 2) Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles in a Champion vs Champion match
– WWE Survivor Series
With Reigns retaining at Crown Jewel, he will be the WWE Universal Champion heading into Survivor Series. I think that WWE will do Champion vs Champion matches again, which means that he will be facing the WWE Champion at the event.
That would mean Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles. These two had some fun matches back in 2016 and I think that it would be fun to see them face off again.
Result: Roman would probably win.
Step 3) Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship
– WWE TLC
Braun Strowman is probably going to get a rematch with Roman Reigns. Their match at Hell in a Cell ended in a no contest after Brock Lesnar interfered. As a result, Braun has a case for a rematch. My guess is that this would be a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.
My gut says that we will see Brock Lesnar return at this event to cost Braun the match. I think it makes perfect sense. It builds us towards Brock vs Braun at a future event. It also keeps both Braun or Roman from taking a clean loss here. Reigns would retain the Title and move on from his feud with Braun.
Result: Roman retains after Brock costs Braun the match.
