The WWE World Cup tournament will be taking place at Crown Jewel. Here are 7 steps on how we would book the tournament.
Step 1) Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley
– Quarterfinals (RAW Bracket)
I think that the first match of the night will be Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley. This has the chance to be fun, so I see WWE putting it on as the first match of the card.
I am going to go with Seth Rollins winning here to advance to the semi-finals. Seth is made for tournaments like these and I would be surprised to see him lose in the first round. There are also rumors that Lashley is working through an injury right now, so I don’t think that WWE would have him wrestle more than one match.
Outcome: Rollins advances
Step 2) Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton
– Quarterfinals (Smackdown Bracket)
One of the marquee matches of the first round will be Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton. This should be fun since there is a lot of history between these two guys.
My gut says Mysterio is going to pick up the win here. I just don’t see Mysterio losing in the first round of the tournament. Rey winning could also set up an Orton-Mysterio feud for Smackdown over the next few weeks. Maybe Orton takes out his frustration of losing on next week’s episode?
Outcome: Mysterio advances
Step 3) Kurt Angle vs Dolph Ziggler
– Quarterfinals (RAW Bracket)
Kurt Angle vs Dolph Ziggler is confirmed for the RAW side in the WWE World Cup. This should be a fun match based on both of their technical wrestling backgrounds. This match really depends on the shape that Angle is in. If he is in top form, this could potentially be the best match of the opening round.
Regardless though, I see Angle winning here to advance.
