4) Kurt Angle vs Jason Jordan
An interesting candidate to retire Kurt Angle could be his (kayfabe) son, Jason Jordan.
Jordan is a bit of a question mark right now. He has been out of action for about a year with a neck injury. It has remained unclear when he will be returning. In the meantime, reports suggest that Jordan has been working as a backstage producer for WWE. This would all obviously depend on Jordan being healthy.
An easy storyline would be Jordan making his return to WWE television and attacking Angle. This would set up Jordan vs Angle for Wrestlemania 35. This is a match that was rumored to be planned for Wrestlemania last year, so we know that WWE has some interest in it. Retiring his ‘dad’ could help Jordan as a heel moving forward.
3) Kurt Angle Is Involved In A Tag Team Match
WWE could ultimately decide to put Kurt Angle in a tag team or 6-man tag match at Wrestlemania 35.
Kurt will go down as an all-time great but nobody will argue that he isn’t in his physical prime anymore. A tag team match might be the best option for him so some of the younger guys can do a lot of the heavy lifting from an in-ring standpoint.
I don’t think it would be the worst idea to not have Angle in a singles match. That might just be me though.
2) Kurt Angle vs Chad Gable
As we all know, WWE went with Jason Jordan for the father-son storyline with Kurt Angle. Still, Angle’s closest comparison on the current WWE roster is probably Chad Gable.
Both Gable and Angle are known for their impressive amateur wrestling backgrounds. Both also represented Team U.S.A at the Olympics.
If WWE wanted to go with a passing-of-the-torch type match for Angle, Chad Gable could be the right call. This could be massive for the career of Gable, who hasn’t really gotten the chance to shine as a singles competitor. I have high hopes for Gable and think that it is only a matter of time before he breaks out as a singles star. This could be the match that helps launch him.
