WWE has officially confirmed that Sami Zayn has been stripped of the Intercontinental Championship. WWE will now run a tournament on Smackdown over the next several weeks to determine who the next Champion will be. Here are some guys who I think have the best chance of winning the tournament.
5) Cesaro
As soon as the news broke of Sami Zayn losing the Title, I immediately thought of Cesaro as a guy who could become the next Intercontinental Champion. Cesaro is someone who a lot of WWE fans have been behind for years. I would love to see WWE give Cesaro a chance with the belt and I don’t think that I am alone.
Cesaro is very talented in the ring and he would put on some great matches as Champion. Just imagine Cesaro winning the belt and bringing back weekly open challenges. With the new crossover rule, we could see some really fun bouts.
Cesaro would be an awesome pick and I definitely won’t be mad if he ends up with the belt. They should give him the ball and let him run with it.
4) Daniel Bryan
I have to include Daniel Bryan on this list. He didn’t walk out of Money in the Bank with the briefcase this year but I could still see him getting another reign as the Intercontinental Champion.
Daniel would definitely be a safe option. We know that he would put on great matches and would be a workhorse-type Champion. He has done it before and he could easily do it again.
I would love to see a Daniel Bryan vs Cesaro final. That could be a lot of fun. I would also love to see Daniel Bryan vs Drew Gulak, Daniel Bryan vs Jeff Hardy, and more. Either way, I could definitely see Bryan walking out with the belt.
