Angle could say that he was only trying to get Corbin’s hopes up after everything that he has done to him. This would be his way to get some revenge.

Angle’s opponent at Wrestlemania would then become a question mark, which is where Cena would fit in.

An easy way that WWE could go is for Baron Corbin to get attacked backstage during Wrestlemania 35. As a result, this would leave Angle without an opponent at the event.

Angle would host as open challenge at the event instead. This challenge would be answered by John Cena. This would be a great callback to when Cena answered Kurt’s open challenge in his WWE debut.

This way, fans would get the match that they want at Wrestlemania 35. WWE could also go with a mystery storyline after Wrestlemania to find out who attacked Corbin.
