5 Things That WWE Needs To Do With Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff Now In Charge Of RAW & Smackdown

3) Make Each Brand Feel Unique

A big thing that needs to happen is for Heyman and Bischoff to try and make both RAW and Smackdown feel unique.

Smackdown shouldn’t just be an extension of RAW. It should feel like a completely different brand, with its own look and feel. There are several ways to do this. WWE could have one of the shows be edgier than the other. Or, they could give Smackdown more of a ‘sports’ theme and keep RAW as the family-friendly show. Something that makes them both feel different.

This feels like one of WWE’s biggest problems right now. Smackdown just feels like an extension of RAW. It doesn’t feel unique and it doesn’t really make for can’t-miss programming.

I am thinking that giving WWE fans two unique shows each week could be a step in the right direction.

2) Have RAW And Smackdown Feel Like They Are In Competition With One Another

I think that WWE needs to bring some competition back between the brands. With Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff now in charge, it gives WWE a real opportunity to do so.

The first step is to get rid of the ‘Wild Card Rule’ and give each brand a different roster. The next step would be to have the RAW and Smackdown roster compete against one another to put out the best product possible. There is pride on the line as Superstars would want to be a part of the best brand in WWE. I would also give them a reward, saying that the locker room that does the best ratings (or something like that) will receive a bonus at the end of the year.

The idea is to keep the brands completely separate from one another and have them try to put on the best product possible. I would make sure there are no Superstars jumping from brand to brand. Keep the distinct rosters together and see how it goes. Once a year, Survivor Series is the place where WWE can do RAW vs Smackdown. It will mean that much more if we don’t get any cross-branded stuff all year until Survivor Series.

I think that a little bit of competition between brands will only raise the product as a whole.
