3) Get Rid Of Shane McMahon As The Heel Authority Figure
Another decision that I would make when Smackdown moves over to FOX is getting rid of Shane McMahon as a heel authority figure.
I love Shane but him as the heel in charge of Smackdown is getting old. We have seen him in charge for a while now and I think that we need a break from him.
Smackdown moving to FOX would provide a great opportunity for Shane to take a step back from weekly television. He doesn’t have to leave WWE television forever but they could take him off television for a few months. This could freshen things up and move Smackdown into a new direction.
2) Find A Way To Leverage FOX’s NFL Coverage To WWE’s Advantage
WWE has a major opportunity now that they are working with FOX. The Network is known for its NFL coverage, which will provide some interesting opportunities for WWE moving forward.
If you follow the weekly ratings for WWE, you know that the company usually takes a big hit when the NFL comes back. If you look at the numbers alone, the NFL brings in some major viewership numbers for their programming.
What that tells me is WWE needs to try and leverage FOX’s NFL connection their advantage. WWE needs to find a way to convince the average football fan to check out WWE again. An idea could be bringing in an NFL star (past or present) to work as a WWE Superstars manager. Or, that could mean bringing in a retired NFL star to wrestle in a battle royal. This is something that WWE used to do in the past and I think that they should try it again.
If I am a football fan and I see a former NFL player advertised for Smackdown, I might check out the show. The goal here is to try and bring back lapsed fans and use FOX’s NFL connection to do that.
