The big news broke recently that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were named Executive Directors of RAW and Smackdown Live. After this announcement was made, many fans wondered why Triple H didn’t get one of these new roles. I have put together several reasons why I think that Triple H was not put in that position by WWE.
5) To Make Sure That NXT Doesn’t Dip In Quality
Let’s start with one of the most important reasons. If Triple H were to take over RAW or Smackdown full-time, he likely wouldn’t be able to run NXT to the best of his ability.
There is only so much time in a day and it seems unlikely that Triple H could be the full-time leader of both NXT and RAW/ Smackdown. If he did take the job, there is no doubt in my mind that the quality of NXT would drop as Triple H is the mastermind behind it all.
WWE definitely does NOT want NXT to drop in quality. The weekly show and NXT Takeover events are a big reason why a lot of hardcore fans still subscribe to the WWE Network. If the quality starts to drop, that could really hurt the subscriber count.
For the sake of NXT, it makes sense for WWE not to name Triple H as Executive Director of RAW or Smackdown.
4) It Would Be A Demotion
Another reason that Triple H wasn’t named as an Executive Director of Raw or SmackDown is because he is already busy as hell.
Triple H’s official job title is the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative for WWE. Not only is he the head guy in charge of NXT but he also sits in on creative meetings for RAW and Smackdown, works with talent individually, and focuses on expanding WWE internationally. The man seems to wear a lot of hats for the company.
The Executive Director job seems like it would be a demotion for him. Sure, he would be in charge of one of WWE’s main shows but it would likely take up most of his time. As a result, he wouldn’t be able to focus on any of the other stuff that he does. Plus, it sounds like he has some input on the creative for RAW and Smackdown anyways.
To me, this seems like it would be a demotion for him.
