Based on Clash of Champions and RAW, it looks like AJ Styles will be moving on from his feud with Cedric Alexander. If that is the case, here are 5 WWE stars who Styles could feud with next for the United States Championship.
5) AJ Styles vs Rusev
Rusev made his return on RAW this past week and destroyed Mike Kanellis. It is great to see the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ back on television and he looks to be in incredible shape.
I would like to see a feud between Styles and Rusev for the United States Championship. This could make for a fun Title program and could help Rusev gain some momentum after his return.
Rusev isn’t exactly a babyface, so WWE would have to book him as more of a tweener. I don’t think that is a bad idea though since fans love to cheer for him.
4) AJ Styles vs Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre is rumored to have been dealing with an injury for the past several weeks. He is expected to return very soon. Maybe he comes back to RAW and starts a new feud with AJ Styles?
I would not mind seeing McIntyre as the United States Champion. It seems like WWE doesn’t want to put the Universal belt on him, so maybe they give him a midcard Title? Could be a way for him to gain some momentum over the next few months.
I will admit that this match makes no sense from a heel-babyface standpoint. While saying that, WWE could figure out a storyline where Styles and McIntyre are both tweeners. I am sure that Drew and AJ would tear it up if given a PPV match.
This seems like a solid option if WWE wants to start building up McIntyre again.
