5 Bold WWE Backlash 2018 Predictions

Backlash takes place this Sunday night in Newark, New Jersey. Here are some of our bold predictions for the event.

1) Samoa Joe Beats Roman Reigns

One of the biggest matches at Backlash will be Samoa Joe vs Roman Reigns. Now you are probably thinking in your head that Reigns will be the one to win here, especially since he is coming off two straight losses to Brock Lesnar.

I actually think Reigns is going to lose again. The first reason why is that I think it will help Joe a lot as he heads to Smackdown Live as one of the brands top heels. I think Joe is going to be pushed into the WWE Title picture pretty quick and this could be a big momentum win for him.

I also think that Reigns constantly losing matches will be used as a storyline moving forward. After racking up so many losses, Reigns eventually snaps and goes crazy on the RAW roster. This leads to Reigns eventually defeating Brock for the Title.

2) AJ Styles Wears A Cup, Retains The Title

AJ Styles will be defending his WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at Backlash. With the way that the storyline is going, the finish of the match on Sunday has to have something to do with Shinsuke Nakamura and his excessive use of the low-blow.

I think that AJ Styles is going to wear some protection. When Nakamura goes for the low-blow, he will end up hurting his arm and it will cost him the match. This would be kinda similar to when Goldberg speared Bret Hart back in WCW. Goldberg was knocked out because Bret was wearing a steel plate on his chest under his shirt. I think we will see something similar here, except with some sort of cup.

3) Big Cass Destroys Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan will be facing off against Big Cass in his first PPV singles match since coming out of retirement. Regardless of the match result, I predict that it is going to be a long night for Daniel Bryan on Sunday.

I think that win or lose, Big Cass is going to destroy Bryan with a post-match beat down. This will be a way for Cass to generate some heat and for the feud to continue. It makes no sense to me for Cass to lose cleanly to Bryan here. WWE will likely want to build him up as a monster heel and beating down Bryan at Backlash will help with that.

Win or lose, I expect a post-match beat down. This will help build towards their next match next month at Money in the Bank.
