13) Two Great Surprises From NXT
After putting on the match of the year (so far) at Takeover: Philly, NXT Champion Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas entered the Royal Rumble match! This was an excellent surprise and a great way to showcase him to the main roster fans.
Another great surprise from NXT in the Rumble was Adam Cole.

14) Sheamus Had One Of The Quickest Eliminations Ever
Sheamus entered the match in the 11 spot. He was eliminated right away by Heath Slater. I don’t know if he beat the record of Santino Marella, but it was damn close.

15) Another Great Kofi-Rumble Spot
Almost every year, we get a classic spot in the Royal Rumble match where Kofi Kingston saves himself. This usually involves some wild acrobatics to keep his feet from hitting the floor.
This year, his foot was saved by Xavier Woods. Big E brought a plate of pancakes for him to step on as well. They boosted him back into the ring in a fun moment.

16) The Hurricane Returned!!!
Former WWE star ‘the Hurricane’ returned during the Royal Rumble match. He hasn’t been seen on WWE television in several years.
He was eliminated quickly, but that was fun! Good to see him again. Maybe keep him around for 205 Live?

17) REY MYSTERIO RETURNED!
In one of the most shocking moments of the match, Rey Mysterio returned in the 27th spot. Rey hasn’t been on WWE TV in the past few years and it was great to see him.
An awesome surprise and he looked amazing.

18) Dolph Ziggler Is Back
After vacating the United States Title several months ago, Dolph Ziggler returned in the 30th spot of the Royal Rumble match.
Ziggler was eliminated pretty quickly by Finn Balor. A bit of a waste of his return I thought….
