30 Things That We Learned From The Royal Rumble 2018

7) The Crowd In Philly Was ELECTRIC

One thing that was clear even before this show started was that the fans in Philly were pumped. This included them counting down the clock on the kickoff show.

The crowd was loud and it was a really fun atmosphere for most of the show.

8) AJ Styles Is So Damn Good

The first match of the main card at the Royal Rumble was for the WWE Championship. AJ Styles defended his belt in a handicap match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

I just had to fit in that AJ Styles is incredible. One of my favorite spots of the match was the counter from the Monkey Flip. So talented.

9) AJ Styles Retained The Title (But Didn’t Pin The Legal Man)

AJ Styles was able to retain the WWE Title. Owens and Zayn have an argument though as Styles ended up pinning Owens, who technically wasn’t the legal man.

Great match and smart booking to keep Owens and Zayn looking strong in defeat.

10) The Usos Retained The Smackdown Tag Team Titles!

The event featured a 2 out of 3 falls match for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin challenged the Usos.

The first fall went to the Usos. The second fall went to the Usos after a surprising roll-up. As a result, the Usos retained their titles. Certainly, an unexpected way to end the match!

11) The Men’s Royal Rumble Match Did NOT Main Event The Show

The third match of the main card was the Men’s Royal Rumble match. This was a bit of a surprise as it usually main events the show.

A lot of fans were confused by the decision:

12) Rusev Is So Damn Over

The first two competitors in the Men’s Rumble was Rusev and Finn Balor. One thing that was clear to me was how over Rusev is. He received a major pop as he was introduced by Aiden English. This was even louder than the pop that Finn Balor received.

Really hope that Rusev gets a push this year.
