15 Things That We Learned From Smackdown Live (January 2, 2018)

1) AJ Styles Plans On Main Eventing Wrestlemania 34 (And I Hope He’s Right)

Smackdown Live this week kicked off with WWE Champion: AJ Styles. Styles spoke about his New Years Resolutions and his desire to main event Wrestlemania 34 as WWE Champion.

I think that many fans would agree that it would be great to see Styles close Wrestlemania 34 this year. We will have to wait and see if it happens but my fingers are crossed.

2) The Interesting Shane And Daniel Storyline Continues, Is This Leading To A Future Match?

Styles was joined by Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon in the ring during the opening segment. Shane proceeded to ask Bryan if he was changing from the ‘Yes Movement’ to the ‘Yep Movement’. An obvious reference to speculation that Bryan could be aligning with Owens and Zayn.

This is certainly an interesting storyline and WWE has been doing a great job building the tension between them.

3) Shelton Benjamin Narrowly Avoided An Embarrassing Moment

Smackdown Live this week featured a Tag Team Title match. The Usos defended their belts against Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable. This came after Benjamin & Gable won the number one contender’s match last week.

Before the match, Shelton almost fell over the top rope during his entrance. That could have been an embarrassing moment but he caught himself in time.
