As noted prior, the original plans for the match between Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks at ‘Great Balls Of Fire’ were rumoured to be Bliss winning by pinfall. These plans were changed at the last moment, with Sasha winning by count out instead.
This has extended the feud, with Sasha likely getting another Women’s title shot in the near future.
But why did WWE make the decision to keep it going?
There are some rumors floating around that the reason this feud was extended is because WWE wants to use the narrative that there is real-life heat between Alexa and Sasha. [Note: We are not saying that this heat between them is legitimate, just that many fans believe that to be the case].
There have been rumors in the wrestling world for a long time now that Sasha and Alexa dislike each other behind-the-scenes. It should be noted that there isn’t really much substance to the idea that they hate one another in real life. There is just a feeling among fans that based on their matches with one another (working stiff) and some of their interactions that they might have some issues.
Regardless of if there is actual heat between them, WWE seems to have decided to use this narrative and will continue the feud. If you watched RAW Talk, you saw Sasha take several shots at Alexa. If we had to guess, both will continue to take shots at one another to play into this narrative. This will blur the lines a bit in the storyline and make fans question if they actually hate one another outside of the ring. That always makes for a more entertaining feud when fans can’t tell the difference.
Reminder as always to take rumors with a grain of salt. We need to make it clear again that we aren’t confirming any real-life heat between them, we are just saying Vince McMahon wants to use the narrative to his advantage for the feud.
