The Miz went off on a verbal rampage on Daniel Bryan during Talking Smack this week. Daniel ended up storming off set and the show ended early after something clearly hit a nerve. This had many fans scratching their heads and wondering if this was real or a work. The emotions in their eyes looked real but this is pro-wrestling after-all and you can never tell for sure.
Our best source of finding out if this promo was a ‘shoot’ or a ‘work’ is from Dave Meltzer, a highly respected pro-wrestling journalist for many decades. He was recently asked on Twitter about the promo where he suggests it was a ‘worked shoot’. If you are unfamiliar with the term, it means that the angle is planned to come off as unscripted. This often blurs the lines between reality and storyline which usually means great television.
Meltzer was asked about the promo clearly hitting the nerve of Bryan, to which he responded by saying:
Of course it’s a nerve, that’s what it’s designed to be, reality based storylines are better than scripted often. https://t.co/1GbK64Wgu4

He was asked straight up if the promo was scripted, to which he responded:
I don’t know if the writers wrote it, but it was part of the entertainment aspect of the product. https://t.co/pEmMlUhVFV

I personally love these types of storylines where reality and storyline blur together. The angle set the internet on fire when it happened and people still can’t tell if it was real or fake. If this was truly planned, I think they both deserve Oscar nominations as it had me going!
